Chapter 0008: The Wolf and the Bat
Hao Ren let out a nearly sorrowful and furious roar in his heart: This fool! There is absolutely no tacit understanding!
Foolish vampire! I have already said that I cannot catch the rabbit at all
However, Hao Ren has already reacted from the initial shock. Although he is still uncertain about the truth, he knows that he cannot let these two continue fighting. Not to mention anything else, he is worried that someone might witness this bizarre scene
Lily, transform quickly
Then Lily and the vampire girl continued to glare at each other, but it seemed that each of their confidence was beginning to wane.
Hao Ren thought at that moment that it would be better to simply crash to death, rather than let this brainless werewolf make things difficult for him: this fool, this fool, this fool!
Do not think that you can distract me again in this manner; the same trick does not work twice on a vampire
As soon as Hao Ren uttered this sentence, he felt something was off, but at that moment, he could not afford to be pedantic about the wording. He sensed that there was undoubtedly a significant misunderstanding between werewolves and vampires—this pointed to a potentially troublesome situation
The vampire girl immediately widened her eyes, on guard against Lily while quickly glancing at Hao Ren: "I want to save you!"
His roar was simply earth-shattering. Hao Ren could almost imagine that several days later, when he went out, the elderly people from the neighboring street would surround him and ask for half a day whether he had suffered domestic violence. However, this roar was indeed effective: the two storms formed by Lily and the vampire girl immediately came to a halt. They both looked at Hao Ren in bewilderment, and then quickly turned to glare at their opponents.
At this moment, Lily finally rushed to the door half a step behind. Hao Ren despaired as he saw this werewolf girl, who seemed a bit dim-witted, neither transformed nor armed. She was still dressed in her cool and lively home attire, her hair unchanged and her ears not protruding. This girl bounced to the door, cheerfully shouting: "Landlord, landlord, I'm here! Is it a delivery?"
Seeing a courtyard gate at the end of the street slowly being pushed open, Hao Ren was anxious and shouted at the top of his lungs: "Stop! Don't hit!"
Even if the place is remote, there are still households here. It is already morning, and the few residents on this street could come out at any moment. The commotion from Lily's fight with the vampire girl is quite significant, and if someone sees it, it would definitely lead to trouble—Lily could very well be captured by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, sliced up, and sent to the cafeteria to test the flavor! Hao Ren completely believes in the national conditions of the Great Foodie Nation
Of course, he will know in the future: for a certain vampire, garlic is actually ineffective
Even the usually calm vampire girl was taken aback by Lily's unconventional way of speaking. She almost laughed, but then she forcefully waved her left hand, which was placed behind her back. At the same time, Hao Ren heard a voice directly ringing in his ear: "Human, you run first, I will hold off this werewolf... Although it is daytime, holding her off is still not a problem!"
Lily still wore a look of determination, as if the recent battle was merely a warm-up. The vampire girl, however, appeared to be quite exhausted; she was panting and her face was flushed abnormally. It seemed that engaging in a close-quarters struggle with a werewolf under the sun was not an easy feat. Nevertheless, they shared one thing in common: despite having gone through such an intense fight, neither of them had broken a single sweat.
Go to hell! Winged mouse!
The vampire girl fearlessly advanced, and with a wave of her hand, a faint red streak of blood coalesced in the air, the sharp nails, elongated to over ten centimeters, resembling a cluster of small daggers, lunged towards Lily's chest: "Die! Beast that can only catch rabbits!"
Before Hao Ren could speak, Lily jumped in: "Who are you trying to fool! You want to suck the landlord's blood! I've seen it on TV, none of you vampires are good people!"
This is the only method that Hao Ren can currently think of. The familiar stench of blood and the feeling of coldness have reappeared. He knows that as an ordinary person, it is absolutely impossible for him to contend with this 'monster' that resembles a human yet is actually an alien species. However, after uttering that sentence, he did not hold out much hope: he is less than two meters away from the 'young girl' in front of him
You may have misunderstood! Hao Ren saw the two of them glaring at each other and realized that they might start fighting again at any moment, so he quickly stepped in between them (of course, he leaned a little closer to Lily) and said, "I need to confirm one thing first: this vampire girl, you don't actually intend to kill me, do you?"
Hao Ren: "... ... What?"
The air conditioning carried by the vampire girl is so damn cold that it freezes people
Hao Ren suddenly realized one thing: why does this werewolf have so much knowledge that comes from what they have seen on television? Is this her first time encountering a vampire?
A gust of wind sounded from behind, and Hao Ren knew that Lily, after her transformation, was rushing over to provide assistance. At the same time, Hao Ren immediately exerted force with his feet, preparing to jump aside, allowing the werewolf to confront this suspected vampire directly, thus ensuring his own safety
Hao Ren, sandwiched between the two, listened to the gist of the matter and finally slapped his forehead: "Alas, what is this all about... You two stop fighting for now, let's discuss it at home!"
Lily saw that her landlord had been dragged away by the enemy, and a momentary look of regret flashed across her face. However, she still tightened her grip on the brick in her hand and let out a growl from her throat, as if in defiance: "Vampire... it is daytime now, and you, a vampire, couldn't defeat me at night, so you are even less my match during the day! Return my landlord, and I will spare your life!"
However, he overestimated his own reaction speed, or rather underestimated the combat power of the "other species." Almost as soon as he had the thought to dodge, the black-haired girl in front of him had already reached out with a speed far exceeding that of a human. She grabbed Hao Ren's arm with a force that nearly threatened to break it, pulling him behind her, and in a melodious voice, she warned softly, "Be careful!"
Lily the werewolf's foolish behavior made Hao Ren completely abandon any hope of escaping from the vampire. Although Lily immediately reacted upon seeing the unfamiliar girl with long black hair, transforming in an instant and picking up two bricks from the doorway to prepare for battle, he still felt utterly hopeless: since last night, he should not have placed his hopes on this werewolf with a few screws loose! Going to the kitchen to string some garlic around his neck would probably be more reliable than relying on Lily!
At the moment Hao Ren was thrown away, he was stunned: that earlier warning "Be careful" seemed to have been uttered by this dangerous creature before him
At this moment, Lily finally had a rare moment of clarity. She noticed that the vampire had momentarily lost focus, so she let out a low growl and charged forward, brandishing a brick. She did not recklessly throw the brick, possibly out of concern for hitting the landlord who was so close at hand
"When did werewolves and beasts start pretending to mingle in human cities!" The voice of the vampire girl was cold and disdainful, though it carried a sense of weakness for reasons unknown, her tone clearly conveyed her contempt for Lily (even though just last night she had been hit by the werewolf in front of her). "Isn't catching rabbits in the wilderness your primary job?"
The girl with long black hair, who had already confirmed her identity as a vampire, showed no signs of fear. She stood between Hao Ren and Lily, her right hand extended in front of her in a defensive posture, her sharp nails slowly elongating. A chill and the scent of blood began to swirl around her body, while her left hand discreetly moved behind her back. Under Hao Ren's bewildered gaze, she forcefully waved it a couple of times, giving the impression that she was urging Hao Ren to leave quickly.
In the brief moment that Hao Ren was taken aback, two extraordinary beings, defying common logic, had already engaged in a fierce struggle. Lily darted like a silver flash at the entrance of the rental apartment, desperately trying to reach Hao Ren's side. Meanwhile, the mysterious vampire girl, even in broad daylight, did not seem to lose any speed. She transformed into a shadow of darkness, her red bloodstains and sharp claws attacking with wild ferocity, each time managing to suppress the werewolf that appeared ready to charge out. Lily's roars and the vampire girl's commands echoed simultaneously from over a dozen different positions, completely surpassing the reaction speed of human eyes and ears.
Hmph! Lily huffed in anger, "Stupid vampire, you definitely can't guess that I can't catch the rabbit at all!"
"Wasn't it you who kidnapped this human first!" The vampire girl narrowed her eyes, exuding a sense of murderous intent. "Kidnapping a human, forcing him to help you conceal your identity, and then you can live in human towns. You werewolves don't have many brains to begin with; this method has been in use for hundreds of years, and it hasn't changed—no wonder you are on the brink of extinction."
