Chapter 1, A Twist of Fate
"Did you forget your driver's license?" An Yiruo lowered her voice, and upon seeing her nod, she sighed and said, "Then what are you showing off for? You should have spoken up earlier and let me drive."
The man let out a sound of acknowledgment, observing her beautiful and slender fingers, while subtly appraising her slim figure. He smiled slightly and said, "You rarely exercise, do you?"
"What do you mean? Don't think you can intimidate people just because you're wearing a police uniform. Which department are you from?" Mi Yu was enraged, unfastened her seatbelt, jumped out of the car, and stood in front of the person in her high heels, her tall figure exerting a bit of pressure.
She looked directly into his eyes, her expression somewhat provocative, and An Yiruo spoke with confidence, "No identification!"
Not only was she not full, she had hardly eaten at all. This matchmaking is truly not a job for humans. When two people sit face to face, even the sound of their breathing can be heard clearly. How can one eat? Who can eat under such circumstances?
"Stay away from me, I find you annoying." An Yiruo shot her a fierce glance, then turned her head to look out the window at the rapidly retreating scenery. Thinking about this somewhat absurd blind date scenario, she instinctively sighed and did not respond.
"First, let me see your identification; I couldn't see it clearly just now. Who knows if it's real or not?" An Yiruo was also annoyed; she had tried to negotiate amicably, yet not only was she not allowed to pass, but she was also mistaken for a criminal? In this day and age, it truly is outrageous
"Indoor exercise is too dull; in comparison, I prefer outdoor activities." The woman skillfully sliced the steak on her plate and continued, "Hiking and playing ball are both good options"
"Why does your uncle insist on pushing you into blind dates? Such a stunning beauty like you shouldn't be worried about getting married?" After enough of the commotion, An Yiruo asked her with her eyes closed, "Besides, you are not suited for marriage at such an early age, what do you think?"
An Yiruo lowered her head, casually glancing at his identification, and then calmly said, "Public Security?" Seeing him nod, she smiled and handed over the identification. Before anyone could react, her palm was raised and swung out...
As expected, Mi Yu's expression changed dramatically, glaring at her with indignation, "You are quite ruthless, An Yiruo"
We just came out to have a meal and forgot our identification at home. You can see that we don't look like bad people, right? Aware of our own shortcomings, An Yiruo smiled at the police officer, not wanting to cause any trouble.
"What a blunder? Is my acting really that poor? It’s simply a blow to my enthusiasm for life." An Yiruo said dejectedly as she started the car, casually remarking, "He has a decent appearance, a good background, and can be considered a gentleman, but as a person, he’s not that great." A woman's sixth sense told her that the man's depth was merely a facade, and beneath it, he seemed somewhat frivolous.
Understood. The rice fish handed the noodles to her and then said: "Then you have to help me with a favor first, otherwise I fear I won't make it to the fashion show day"
"How dark-hearted you are, clearly trying to sabotage my weight loss plan." An Yiruo casually flipped out a disc, and music flowed out slowly as she closed her eyes in enjoyment. Just when Mi Yu thought she had fallen asleep, she slyly smiled and said, "Then go back and make me a blueberry cheesecake."
With a proper smile still on her face, she softly expressed her gratitude before placing the business card and gold card into her handbag, and the woman took a delicate sip of red wine
This is what is called having policies at the top and countermeasures at the bottom. Mi Yu laughed mischievously and said, How is it? Is there any room for development? I think that person is quite good
The woman lowered her head slightly and explained softly, "I used to participate in some activities during school, but after starting work, I became too busy. When I have free time, I just want to sleep a little longer"
An Yiruo let out a sigh and laughed while scolding: "You are quite good at being perfunctory. I know that actors use stand-ins for filming, but I have never heard of someone using a substitute for a blind date."
The woman secretly wiped her sweat and smiled gently as she declined, "No need, I will drive."
An Yiruo turned around and happened to see a man in a dark special police uniform, striding towards her in matching military boots, with a solemn expression and an exceptionally upright posture
"What does it have to do with him? What is wrong with you?" An Yiruo opened her eyes, realizing her emotional downturn. Although Mi Yu's demeanor had cooled somewhat, he rarely lost his temper.
The man pressed his lips together and cautiously handed over his identification, saying, "I kindly ask both of you to cooperate by presenting any identification that can verify your identity. I will explain the misunderstanding with the young lady later."
"He has always opposed my becoming a model, fearing that I would be subjected to unspoken rules," Mi Yu said casually, her hands steadily gripping the steering wheel, seemingly aware of what An Yiruo was about to say next. With a bitter smile, she continued, "He has never truly understood his daughter, thinking that giving money is the same as being good to her. You have no idea, every time he calls me over, he just hands me money, saying, 'Mi Mi, here is ten thousand yuan, take it for pocket money.'"
"I’m done." Mi Yu responded perfunctorily, clearly not wanting to discuss further. She got up and went to the kitchen to prepare something to eat for her, as she couldn't bear to see her best friend go hungry.
Mi Yu was momentarily taken aback, staring in astonishment for a moment, suppressing a laugh as he looked at them, thinking to himself that Miss An seemed a bit unusual today
"Is it that serious?" An Yiruo was taken aback, then graciously waved her hand and said, "Speak, my sister will handle it for you, even if it means going through fire and water."
The person sitting behind could no longer hold back and let out a chuckle, thinking to themselves that this foolish child was putting in quite a bit of effort to pretend.
Shopping, listening to music, drinking... Suddenly, something came to mind, and the words that were on the tip of her tongue were swallowed back. The woman cleared her throat lightly and smiled gently, "Having some tea with friends"
"I think it looks quite good. They gave you a gold card right away, which shows they have a good impression of you." Jian Anyi glared at her with gritted teeth, while Mi Yu, with a glint in her eye, boldly continued, "I heard that his gym has very high expenses. How about we go try it another day? It might really be free of charge."
Thus, An Yiruo impersonated Mi Yu at this matchmaking banquet, stepping in to support her good friend's love.
A look of surprise flashed in his pitch-black eyes, and the man almost simultaneously recognized her. Frowning, he said, "Routine inspection, please present your identification." His voice was unusually calm, and his tone carried a serious, businesslike demeanor
The carp has never had a particularly favorable impression of the police, and after flipping through for a while with some impatience, she found that aside from the vehicle registration certificate which she had casually tossed in the car, the other two documents were completely absent
The man raised his eyebrows and nodded, "Then I'll call you next time."
The man looked at her with great interest, smiling meaningfully, "You won't know until you try."
Mi Yu responded with a sound, skillfully cooked her a bowl of noodles, added an egg, and then lazily asked: "Which day?"
Next Tuesday evening
"It wouldn't be that you did something to wrong the people of our country, would it?" An Yiruo turned her head slightly to glance at her, deliberately adopting a stern expression, and said seriously: "If so, do not blame me for being righteous and turning against my own kin."
Routine inspection, please present your vehicle registration, driver's license, and identification card Young officer saluted professionally, flashed the documents in front of Mi Yu, and said not a word
The naive child, inadvertently caught in the truth, had the person sitting behind take a sip of red wine and draw a conclusion
Go on a blind date for me tomorrow
This person has met An Yiruo. A narrow road for enemies! She secretly cursed, waiting for him to walk in front of her and stand still
She took a glance and had already seen his appearance, her mind quickly working to search for memories of him, with beautiful brown skin, strong yet soft features, bright black eyes, thick eyebrows, and a slightly furrowed brow, exuding an innate confidence and pride
Last night, when she returned to the apartment, dragging her weary body, Mi Yu was lying on the sofa in the living room listening to music. She walked over and sat in the adjacent armchair, looking pitifully and asking, "Is there anything to eat?"
An Yiruo could imagine the expression on Old Master Mi's face when he said this, gazing at Mi Yu's perfect profile, and comforted him: "The old man is merely expressing his affection in his unique way." Mi Dad's love for his daughter is no less than that of any parent, yet the weight of paternal love cannot be compared to the gentle tenderness of maternal love. Growing up in a single-parent household, Mi Yu is a woman who has lacked maternal love since childhood. However, An Yiruo is grateful that she lives freely and casually, showing no signs of the fragility often associated with children from single-parent families. Instead, she is increasingly confident, exuding a pride that emanates from her very bones. The weight of paternal love cannot be compared to the gentle tenderness of maternal love. Haven't you eaten yet?" Mi Yuying looked up at the ceiling and asked slowly. Hearing her response, she cursed, "Xi Shuo Liang is really not human, making you work so late that you can't even have a meal?
The man chuckled lightly, and the passage of time had left its marks of experience on his handsome face, endowing him with a charm and composure that few of his peers or books could rival. "This is my business card; feel free to come by and visit when you have time," he said, while handing over a gold card. "Take this with you when you go."
On the road, two women were chatting idly. As they approached the toll station, Mi Yu saw a staff member in uniform standing in the middle of the highway waving for her to stop. Frowning, she said, "What is going on here?" Her gaze fell on several police cars parked on both sides of the road, leaving Mi Yu puzzled
"Mi Yu, you drive, Miss An is very tired." An Yiruo turned off the engine and jumped out of the car, raising her chin to give the order
Driving license, identity card. The officer's tone became noticeably harsher as he looked at the well-dressed woman who was unable to produce her documents
What leisure activities are there on the weekend? The man elegantly swirled the red wine in his glass, a barely perceptible smile flickering in his phoenix-like eyes
Regarding her only experience with blind dating, An Yiruo summarized it with two words: suffering
"Curse you, you big-headed ghost." She shot him a glance, and Mi Yu stepped on the brakes, complaining, "I chose my friends poorly."
Misunderstanding? It is easy to say, but it is not him who suffers the loss
An Yiruo squinted her eyes and glared at her, "Isn't it all for you? How can you still laugh?"
The pace of urban life is too fast, and fitness is a great way to relieve stress; why not give it a try? The man is very patient, his tone neither hurried nor slow, as if he can see through her lack of intention to go forward.
The man raised an eyebrow, the corners of his mouth curving into an attractive arc. The woman frowned, calmly lifting her cup, lowering her gaze as she softly spoke: "I heard you run a fitness club?" Her tone was gentle, her voice neither too high nor too low
The man suppressed the smile at the corners of his mouth, thoughtfully handed over a napkin, and after a brief silence, appropriately changed the subject. The woman cooperatively engaged in conversation with him, discussing their respective work and personal interests. In short, the meal concluded in a harmonious yet somewhat oppressive atmosphere. Finally, the man called the waiter to settle the bill and, just before leaving the restaurant, said in a very gentlemanly manner: "Where do you live? I will give you a ride."
"You are truly incompetent, not cut out to be an actor, you will definitely mess up." Mi Yu laughed so hard that she almost gasped for breath. After finally stopping her laughter, she patted her shoulder with a somewhat heroic gesture and said to the book, "What a naive girl."
... ...
Upon hearing this, the officer slightly turned to the side and, with a spirited demeanor, saluted behind An Yiruo, saying, "Report, Captain, these two young ladies are driving without a license."
Upon arriving at the parking lot, each took their respective vehicles. The man waved at her and drove away in a stylish manner, leaving a cloud of dust behind.
The officer clearly did not expect two unlicensed women to be so brazen, their words so sharp. He furrowed his brow, preparing to hand over the documents, when he heard someone nearby loudly ask, "What is going on?"
An Yiruo leaned against the door, holding a cup of coffee, "Can you spare some time for me to walk the runway?"
"Compared to you, I am slightly inferior." She said with a playful smile, knowing that Mi Yu, as a model, had a particular fondness for blueberry cheesecake. However, due to her profession, she had to exercise restraint and could not indulge in too many sweets. Therefore, whenever Mi Yu provoked her, Miss An would hold the cake like a queen and enjoy it in front of her, occasionally letting out sounds of admiration, which made Mi Yu so angry that she felt like kicking her as a form of reward.
Two minutes later, Mi Yu, wearing high heels, got into the car, holding her stomach and laughing uncontrollably
The woman hesitated for a moment, then politely accepted it with both hands, silently repeating his name in her heart, and asked seriously: "Can I use this card for free?"
The young officer's expression was slightly somber as he raised his eyes to scrutinize the two individuals for a long while. Just when An Yiruo thought he would let them go, he heard him say in a calm voice: "The faces of criminals never bear the inscription 'I am a bad person.'"
"I forgot to bring it." Mi Yufan shot a cold glance at the person, her tone somewhat unfriendly, and her good mood dissipated.
She smiled faintly, and upon closer inspection, the smile appeared somewhat forced
Mi Yu spat in her heart and sighed before saying, "He verbally opposes it, yet does not take action to stop it, which is also the reason I do not confront him directly." Pian Touchong smiled slyly and said, "So he arranged for me to go on a blind date, and I obediently went, after all, I am a dutiful daughter." This is a typical example of the irresponsible Mi Yu standard phrase.
Mi Yu knew that he had angered Miss An and did not dare to add fuel to the fire. Reluctantly, he took the driver's seat and forced a smile, saying: "You didn't eat enough earlier, let me treat you to a late-night snack"
