Chapter 8, Language Barriers
Fang Shi disembarked from the plane with the crowd, queued to pass through customs, and strained to see what documents everyone needed to present and what they had to say. Soon it was Fang Shi's turn; the customs officer took his passport, glanced at it, flipped through a page, looked at Fang Shi again, and without asking a single question, stamped the passport. The clumsy English that had spun in Fang Shi's mind for over a dozen times proved to be of no use.
The general idea is that a student from Alliance University had cash stolen by a thief on the train. Fang Shi has now become somewhat of a minor celebrity, as his news has been broadcast in the provincial capital. Upon seeing Fang Shi, the police station believed him, and as a result, the officers not only treated Fang Shi to a nice meal but also arranged accommodation for him to rest for the night. The next morning, he was taken to the airport by police car
A month has swiftly passed, and on the eve of parting, the group of spirits is filled with melancholy. They know that once Fang Shi departs, it will be at least three to five years before he returns.
The girl blinked at Fang Shi, and Fang Shi blinked back at the girl. If it were someone else, Fang Shi would still have the audacity to shout for help. The girl said: "Jili guala ... ... "
Fang Shi observed that the man was of a similar age to himself, dressed in a full set of medieval noble attire, complete with a standing collar. Beyond that, he could only describe the man with one word: handsome, the kind of handsome that is simply stunning. Forgive Fang Shi for his poor English; he could not find a more fitting term to describe him
A person can become a ghost, or even an old ghost, only through confinement and subtle influence, which in itself indicates that they possess little positive and much negative. Even in the love story of Xiao Rou, less than three months after her death, the man who had sworn eternal love with her was already involved with another woman. Fortunately, Fang Shi has a very sunny disposition and regards the stories of the ghosts merely as cautionary tales, without getting bogged down in trivialities.
After driving for six hours, Fang Shi was taken to the train station in the city. Once on the train, he realized something was amiss; he only had 10,000 euros on him and not a single piece of Chinese currency. Fang Shi was not foolish enough to use euros to buy things. Moreover, the green train was filled with all sorts of people, and if he were targeted by a thief, it would be troublesome.
Fang Shi said: "Great! My name is Fang Shi. Why are you in my room?"
Black shop, robbery. Fang instinctively raised his hands.
Fang Shi Er, that girl also seems to be not San
Grandfather watched as Fang Shi boarded the vehicle sent by the village, tears streaming down his face. It has been over ten years since Fang Shi settled here, and he has aged from a robust young man to a white-haired elder. As one grows older, feelings of nostalgia become more pronounced, highlighting that the role of a ghostly messenger is not a beautiful one.
The stick was taken away, and Fang Shi saw a girl who was about the same age as him. She was dressed in a black leather outfit, wearing riding boots, with slightly curled black hair that reached her shoulders, and her eyes were a light green. If I had to describe her in two English words, they would be "emerald" and "bony"
... ...
Having found the boarding location, Fang Shi checked into the hotel closest to Dock No. 2. After taking the room key, Fang Shi took the elevator to the fourth floor with his backpack and was walking towards his room when the door of a room opened, and a young blonde man walked out, facing Fang Shi as he approached.
Although Fang Shi feels a sense of parting, as a young person, he possesses an immense yearning and aspiration for the future. His heart has already soared to the League School, envisioning the blueprint of the League School in his mind
Fang Shi, guided by a kind-hearted person, first found Dock No. 2 located in the suburbs of the capital of Tuguo. Dock No. 2 was desolate and very rudimentary, with only a wooden platform extending more than 20 meters out from the land.
Fang Shi: "Do you speak English?"
After sitting on the train for a whole day and night with an empty stomach, he finally arrived at the provincial capital. The distance from the train station to the airport is quite far. A typical high school graduate would probably go crazy. However, Fang Shi, as someone educated by the old ghosts and as a person with his own ideas, immediately went to the railway police station after getting off the train
The two continued to gaze at each other, Fang Shi was already at a loss for words. Suddenly, an idea struck him, and he took out a pen and paper from his bag. The girl also leaned in closer, and Fang Shi wrote in English: "My room"
The girl nodded repeatedly, indicating her agreement. Fang Shi looked at the girl, who seemed to feel it was her turn. She took a piece of paper and a pen and wrote a sentence in English, with beautiful handwriting. Fang Shi felt ashamed of his own handwriting at first. Only after that did he look at the meaning of the English sentence, which consisted of a total of twelve words. Fang Shi recognized part of it, especially one key word: ghost. In English, a ghost is equivalent to a spirit.
The girl forms a heart shape with her hands, raises her head to show a tearful expression while shaking her head. She pulls a stick back and forth, transforming it into a small stick, which she inserts into the buckle of her leather jacket on her back. She takes a step, turns back, wipes her tears, takes another step, turns back, and wipes her tears again. Then, she positions her hands to resemble wings: "Whoosh ... ..." She squats down, turns around, jumps twice, and points to the window: "Throw ... ..."
This is Fang Shi's first time going abroad. Objectively speaking, Fang Shi still feels a bit apprehensive, and he does not know what to do upon arriving at the airport. Fortunately, the police officer accompanying him from the police station is very helpful, guiding Fang Shi to check in, go through security, and only leaving after seeing him enter the boarding waiting area
The plane arrived in the island nation of Tuvalu in Oceania after a layover of eighteen hours. This is a small country, a tourist destination, with a population of only four hundred thousand.
Fang Shi swallowed his saliva, yet he could not understand. Fang Shi said, "Do you speak Huaxia language?"
The tales of mixed dragons and snakes, along with the tricks of the marketplace, are the favorites among the spirits. These spirits possess rich life experiences. After processing their own stories and those of their friends, they transform them into captivating narratives that are highly appealing.
Fang Shi tugged at his hair with his left hand, gazing at the girl for over ten seconds. Facing her expectant eyes, he spread his arms and made a sound effect: "whoosh..." to indicate that he had arrived by airplane, then squatted down to signify landing. He crossed his fingers to show that he had reached this place, took out a key, and informed her that this was his room. At the same time, he turned out his pockets and shook his head to indicate that he had no money
The man also noticed Fang Shi, clearly slowing his pace to scrutinize him, and the two passed each other. As Fang Shi took out his keys to open the door in front of his room, the man waiting for the elevator turned his head to look at Fang Shi. When Fang Shi looked at him, he placed his right thumb and index finger in front of him, looking at Fang Shi with some anticipation. Fang Shi was taken aback, turning to look down the corridor, which was empty except for himself. Turning back, the man had already withdrawn his hand and entered the elevator. Fang Shi was bewildered, looking back down the corridor, which was still empty. Turning back again, the man had already withdrawn his hand and entered the elevator.
The girl faces the window, pointing upstairs with her right hand, then makes a parabolic motion with her right hand, humming the tune: "Throw..." She spreads her hands apart, jumps in place once, looks around, sits on the ground, and nods her head.
The girl thought for a while: "Hello, thank you"
Fang Shi entered his room, just turned on the light, and suddenly felt a gust of wind blowing towards him. Upon closer inspection, he saw a wooden stick no more than 10 centimeters from the tip of his nose
The girl nodded: "Blah blah blah ... ... "
Having inquired with fellow passengers on the plane, Fang has gained some experience and exchanged some local currency outside the airport using euros. Next is the boat trip; according to the ticket time, the Pearl will depart from Dock No. 2 at midnight tomorrow. This ticket does not seem very official, as it does not indicate the destination.
From the girl's perspective, what Fang Shi said was nothing but a jumble of words
