Section 1
Fugui had long been accustomed to such unkind treatment; she shook her fur, stammered a couple of times, and slowly went to sharpen her claws
Meow
Her head still felt groggy, yet she could no longer fall asleep. She put on her clothes, got out of bed, went to wash her face and brush her teeth, and prepared some breakfast
Wiping the droplets off her face, Gu Xiang changed out of her pajamas, tied her hair neatly, took out two yuan from her wallet, and went out to buy breakfast
Gu Xiang opened her eyes, and at that moment, the dignified and composed face of the noble cat was staring at her. Upon seeing her awake, the old cat brought its cool nose closer and rubbed it against her face.
As an eight-year-old cat that has seen much of the world, a calm and composed life has always been the highest realm she pursues. Perhaps it is a life of tranquility, where she enjoys canned food every week.
It is mid-September, yet the weather outside remains quite hot, with the tail end of the autumn tiger still rampaging. The brick house is relatively cool, and on such hot days, merely using a fan is sufficient, which has saved Gu Xiang a sum of money on air conditioning.
The furnishings are very simple. In a room of about 20 square meters, the intricately carved wooden bed is the most valuable piece of furniture, and it was left behind by the landlord. There is a canvas wardrobe, two old wooden tables that serve as Gu Xiang's workstations, and a storage cabinet. The remaining space is divided by a glass door into a kitchen and a bathroom
The house is naturally rented. Fortunately, in a small city, the land prices are not high, and this small old brick house adjacent to the railway only charges her 200 dollars per month, with all utilities to be managed by herself
A cat lying on the bed early in the morning, no wonder it has nightmares
The subway passed outside, and the rumbling sound resembled an earthquake, causing the floor beneath my feet to tremble
"What the hell are you doing?" Gu Xiang grabbed Fugui by the front and threw him onto the bed.
Gu Xiang glanced at her phone, it was 7:20. She had barely slept for six hours.
Eating, drinking, and all bodily functions take place in this room, and there are no acquaintances who would come to visit. Gu Xiang often mocks herself, thinking that if she were to die unexpectedly here in the future, it would only be when she starts to smell that someone would find out.
