Chapter 9: How Much is Akka
Becoming a formal officer comes with distinct privileges, especially since this is the heart of Germany, Berlin. As Akado just disembarked from the train, a sergeant approached and saluted, his heels clicking together with a crisp sound that could be clearly heard even in the noisy train station: "Major, Sergeant Gel of the General Headquarters Garrison Guard Battalion salutes you"
Go to the suburbs, find Major General Harmon, and tell him it is my intention for you to oversee the reorganization of the First Division!" Sickert stood up: "In one month, I want to see a brand new National Defense Army First Division!
"The Treaty of Versailles does not allow us to have tanks, you know! Why do you still say that?" Siket's eyes lit up as he uncrossed his legs and asked.
Akado was still somewhat unaccustomed; he instinctively raised his right hand and returned a military salute before speaking: "Hello, Sergeant Ger, I am Akado from Hamburg, and I am about to report to the General Headquarters."
Akado pointed to the plan and said, "This unit needs to be equipped with at least 60 large-caliber artillery pieces. Due to insufficient transport capacity, the infantry will temporarily be equipped with bicycles. Secretly trained personnel will simulate tank units. Although we do not have tanks, we can make it by covering vehicles with canvas to simulate tanks"
"Slogans are easy for everyone to shout, General, how can you be so certain that I am the kind of person you need?" Akado concluded his awkwardness and asked General Sikter directly.
Continue speaking! Sikete rested one hand on his chin, furrowing his brow as he spoke. He felt a flicker of inspiration, as something flashed through his mind.
Akado's lips curled slightly upwards: "Then let us bypass the Treaty of Versailles www.hetushucomcom, I believe you have the same intention, Your Excellency the General, correct?"
Come in! A voice sounded from inside, and Akado could not hear it clearly through the door. However, it was evident that Grace understood it well and pushed open the office door
I am Lieutenant Grace, the secretary to General Sictor. You could say I have become quite a celebrity in the headquarters recently, so I believe many people here know you. However, now you know me!" Grace smiled, revealing the characteristic strength and competence of women from the Germanic ethnic group.
His rate of promotion can be said to be the fastest in German history; to some extent, it should be noted that his rank elevation was entirely against regulations, but fortunately, he had a stroke of good luck
"Not bad, it's me." General Sikter smiled, placed the lens in his hand on the table, stood up, and stretched: "Now you know why I called you here, right?"
Major Sikter heard the sound of Akado entering, raised his head, and smiled at the somewhat awkward Akado, his Prussian-style mustache accentuating his expression, as he reached up to remove the monocle that was perched over his right eye.
"What are your thoughts on this, how many schools does Akka have?" General Sikter walked over to the side of the sofa, sat down, crossed his legs, picked up the cup of water on the table, brought it to his lips, and took a sip, producing a squeaking sound.
"According to your estimates, what is the combat capability of this division?" Sikter asked the question that concerned him the most
"Young man, I have lived more than half my life. If I cannot even understand people, how could I possibly reach this position?" Sikter, quite self-assured, pointed to the chair beside him where someone had just sat, and continued in a somewhat teasing tone, "Are you lacking confidence in your abilities, or do you think I misjudged you?"
"What you said on the train, I believe to be correct, so I sought you out, hoping you could become my assistant." Sikter stated candidly: "I need someone like you to revitalize the future of Greater Germany"
Seeing Akado place the briefcase he was holding under his arm onto the sofa next to the door, Grace walked to the entrance of General Sikt's office and gently knocked on the door
The soldier glanced at the identification, returned it to Akado, and then saluted: "Welcome, Major." After speaking, he stepped aside, indicating for passage.
Moreover, the reason for Lieutenant Akado's promotion to Captain is due to the commendation from Colonel Kluzer, thus providing sufficient justification for Akado's advancement, which fully complies with the promotion regulations and is entirely reasonable and lawful
"General, if I may speak frankly, there is no one more suitable than myself in this building! You have found a treasure for the German army!" Akado stood at attention and said confidently
"Combat capability?" Akado proudly tapped the plan on the coffee table with his finger and said disdainfully, "This division can at least breach a defense line formed by two armies."
The car stopped in front of the gate of a building, and two German soldiers carrying rifles approached, saluted, and extended their hands towards the car window: "Sir, this is the General Command of the Armed Forces, please present your identification."
Sergeant Ger clearly seemed a bit confused; he was there to pick up Akadashiao, and he had also stated his identity and purpose. However, the nervous Major in front of him seemed to introduce himself again, appearing quite reserved. This Major was also quite interesting; he seemed to lack any airs of authority and did not resemble a nobleman at all. In short, this Major was quite a distance away from the rumored illegitimate son of General Siket... It was as if he were just a simple country farmer.
Lowering the car window, Akado handed over his identification. Through the soldier's armpit, he saw a metal plaque hanging on the doorpost on this side, elegantly inscribed with the words "Supreme Command of the German Armed Forces"
Because his previous promotion was a completely illegitimate operation by a temporary government, and the chaos caused by this temporary government has not yet fully subsided, people are overwhelmed dealing with various aftermaths of the coup, and no one cares about the trivial matter of a certain lieutenant being promoted to captain
Still not knowing, you might as well just tell me. Akkado truly did not understand why this highest superior in front of him would bring him here
"General, if we are to prepare for future wars, I believe we need a tank division! A division that, once equipped with tanks, can become the tank division of tank divisions!" Akado said after flipping through two pages.
Directly facing the main door, there is a very large writing desk, exceedingly large, to the point of being somewhat absurd. It seems that this truly is the headquarters of the German Armed Forces, as even the desk is the largest in all of Germany—Akado thought to himself: Could it be even larger than the President's desk?
"Do not be so certain, Major. If you are not competent, I will remove you from my team! Furthermore, I do not wish for you to merely boast; what I need are truly capable individuals!" Sikter pointed to a stack of documents in front of him, his gaze sharp as he fixed it on Akado, and said, "This is the test!"
Lucky, isn't it? Akado touched his nose and revealed a faint bitter smile. At twenty-one, the major could indeed be considered very fortunate. However, the mess that the German military was currently facing was quite challenging. He was confident that in this command center, aside from himself, there were not many who had the capability to take over.
It’s you! Akado instinctively exclaimed. He felt somewhat confused; he had seen the middle-aged man in front of him, who was in his fifties, sitting opposite him on the train he took to Hamburg that day.
The gate's railing slowly rose, and the car began to sway again. Akado took a deep breath, finally bringing himself to this place. This is his stage, a grand platform to realize his dream of the Third Empire
Akado had served in his position as a captain for three months and four days when he received an appointment letter. As he boarded the train to Berlin, he was still somewhat disoriented, unable to distinguish between east, south, west, and north—so-called happiness came too quickly, leaving him somewhat overwhelmed. He felt inexplicably puzzled, unable to fathom why there would be such an order from Berlin, promoting a newly appointed captain to the final echelon of true military officers, thus making him a new major in the National Defense Force.
On the contrary, this time Akado's promotion to Major has raised many points for discussion, such as his insufficient qualifications, having only served a little over three months in the position of Captain; moreover, he has not made any contributions, nor has he demonstrated any outstanding performance. It can be said that he has idled for a full three months in the nominal position of the gas prevention team.
"Welcome to Akado, General Sikt is waiting for you. Please put down your belongings and follow me." In the outer office of General Sikt, a very tall female secretary was teasing a maid who was responsible for tidying up the floor while holding a cup of coffee. Upon seeing Akado enter, she set down her cup, waved her hand to signal Sergeant Ger, who had brought Akado in, to leave, and then spoke: "You are the luckiest person I have ever seen"
Akado stepped forward and picked up the document to examine it carefully. On the first page, a large line of text boldly stated: "Reorganization Plan for the 1st Division of the German Armed Forces"
However, this promotion of the major was proposed by the newly appointed Commander General Sikter, and naturally, there were no unreasonable objections from the uninformed. Regarding this peculiar promotion, everyone adopted a tacit attitude—perhaps this young man named Akado is General Sikter's godson? Why bother with such trivial matters?
After all, there are as many as 17 acting ministers waiting to be processed, and there are over 20 major generals and lieutenant generals being promoted, so the promotion of a lieutenant to captain does not attract much attention
As Akado stepped out of the station, he began to adapt to his new identity. A black sedan weaved through the crowded streets, cutting through the dense throngs of people. Sitting in the back seat, Akado gazed at the towering buildings on either side, listening to Sergeant Ger's eloquent introduction to the local customs and culture of Berlin, or his complaints about the treasonous Treaty of Versailles.
Do you know me?" Akado casually asked, as it seemed that everyone here knew him, yet he did not recognize a single one of them
