Chapter 5, Zombies Block the Door
Zhao Jingye let out a cold snort, clearly disapproving of the bald man's flattery towards Tang Zheng and his disregard for himself. The high school student curled his lip, his eyes filled with disdain
"It's nothing." Qin Yan caught a glimpse of Old Lin observing her, and pretended to be indifferent as she shook her head. Meanwhile, she silently sighed to herself, even if I have thoughts, I cannot express them in public.
Before the five zombies could pounce, they were shot in the head and fell to the floor.
There are still a few left, you all go up first, I will arrive shortly.
"Twelfth floor, room 1207." After Tang Zheng reported this, he began to ask the receptionist in his arms some questions. The high school student shrugged and pressed the button representing the 12th floor
Arrived. As the elevator dinged and came to a halt, the flight attendant Cheng Chen, her face flushed, squeezed to the front of the door, wanting to exit. However, just moments ago, the bald man standing next to her had secretly touched her backside, and she could no longer bear to stay in this place
There is no way around it; after all, Tang Zheng does not often use this language, and the English foreign teachers at the university are not responsible for their medical courses. It is already quite remarkable to have made only such a small error.
"You are also afraid of death." The bald man laughed heartily, not intending to mock Tang Zheng; he felt that being afraid was what made one a normal person.
As soon as the door of the first-class elevator opened, Kang Songde impatiently pushed the receptionist out. Tang Zheng hesitated for a moment before following suit, an action that nearly caused everyone to gasp in astonishment.
The most critical factors are food and water. Having worked together for several years, Qin Yan, as the chief attendant, is well aware of her colleagues' capabilities. Sending them out to find food would undoubtedly be a life-threatening endeavor. With this in mind, her gaze fell upon Tang Zheng's broad back. This guy is too calm; he is unlikely to easily agree to an alliance, at least not as a free enforcer. However, recruiting high school students and maintenance workers should not be a problem. Adding Zhao Jingye to the mix would be sufficient. As for Kang Songde, Qin Yan does not believe that the man with a prominent belly, living in comfort, can contribute to their combat strength. "Do you really think you are invincible? Hurry and close the door," the bald man swatted away Tang Zheng's hand, pressed the door close button, and laughed, "I am still looking forward to collaborating with you, so don't rush to your demise."
"Oh no, I made a mistake. I actually wanted to ask about the layout of the hotel." Tang Zheng was extremely frustrated. After calculating in his mind that there was enough time to exit the elevator, he feigned calmness, but still let go of the receptionist, creating some distance.
Once the time arrives, this girl will also turn into a zombie, right? The high school student did not retort but instead looked anxiously at the receptionist standing beside Tang Zheng
Once they have temporarily secured their safety, the bald man may very well make unreasonable demands, after all, he and Old Lin possess the strongest combat power and the greatest deterrent in this team. Moreover, without the need for armed coercion, the flight attendants, in order to survive, will likely have to pay a price.
With a beep, the elevator doors opened, and the five Americans inside were taken aback upon seeing Tang Zheng and his group. The bald man was no gentleman; he charged in and kicked them out.
Are you capable or not? Should I translate for you instead? Zhao Jingye, upon hearing Tang Zheng mispronounce a few words, finally found an opportunity to mock him
"Be careful." Tang Zheng suddenly reached out, grabbing Cheng Chen's arm and pulling her back. Without needing any explanation, everyone understood why he did this
"It's over!" A high school student suddenly shouted, startling everyone.
"What are you thinking?" Hu Qiong squeezed over, cradling a metal box, and asked in a low voice. She knew that this friend had a very insightful mind, and compared to those unfamiliar men, she preferred to hear Qin Yan's thoughts.
Old Lin, standing at the forefront, was faster than everyone else. He drew his gun and fired in less than half a second. Then, amidst the sound of rapid gunfire, everyone saw the splattering blood and white brain matter through the gradually opening elevator doors.
The elevator had just opened a crack when a blood-dripping, decaying arm reached in. If it weren't for Tang Zheng's quick reflexes, the flight attendant's face would have been clawed open
What is he shouting? The bald man does not speak English, so he turned to ask Qin Yan. Kang Songde also looked over, clearly concerned about this issue. The other flight attendants wore expressions of anxiety, clutching their metal boxes, completely at a loss as to what they should do. Under the relentless impact of this dire situation, they had nearly lost their ability to think.
"You don't intend to observe the process of a person turning into a zombie, do you?" Upon seeing Tang Zheng pressing the door button for an extended period, Qin Yan remarked, then raised her voice, "I believe that serves no purpose."
Cheng Chen had considered calling for help, but given the current situation, everyone would certainly not punish them; instead, it would only make her feel even more out of place. Therefore, she decided to be more cautious in the future. Moreover, she resolved that no matter what she did, she would always follow behind Qin Yan.
"Hurry, take the stairs," the high school student, not wanting to be ignored, quickly reminded and was about to run outside when he was grabbed by Old Lin beside him, who asked in confusion, "What’s wrong?"
"Fool, you forgot to turn on the safety and load the gun," the bald man cursed. Just as he raised the gun, he realized it was unnecessary.
"Are you crazy? What are you going out for?" The repairman grabbed him, his face filled with urgency. His actions were entirely motivated by goodwill and concern, devoid of any selfish intent
Forget it, there are only two minutes left, and time is running out. Tang Zheng cursed under his breath, took the key, grabbed the receptionist's arm, and headed towards the elevator, with everyone else hurriedly following behind.
The other two receptionists, who had survived the ordeal, had not yet had the chance to feel relieved when the handsome yet sinister Asian man shouted again
The receptionist is merely an eighteen or nineteen-year-old girl, and after experiencing such a scene, she would have been frightened to the point of tears, her hand trembling while holding the mouse, making it impossible for her to click on the icons
"Let those guests get out of the hotel, no, let them stay in their rooms and not come out." Tang Zheng initially intended to have the guests leave the hotel to reduce the number of zombies, but upon considering the limited time, he realized that they might very well end up lingering in the corridors and turning into zombies, which would only artificially increase the difficulties of passage.
Qin Yan stared at the numbers on the elevator, casually explaining a few points. She was contemplating when this team, composed of zeros, would collapse and what she should do then
"Zombie." The high school student shouted, aiming the gun at the gap in the door, and without any hesitation, pulled the trigger, but unfortunately, the gun did not fire
"There is less than a minute left, damn it, hurry up and get out!" Zhao Jingye reacted, lunging in front of the elevator door, frantically pressing the button for the 10th floor, eager to exit
As soon as he spoke, everyone except for Old Lin instantly pressed against the wall, trying to avoid the receptionist as much as possible
It was summer, and the entire cramped elevator was unbearably hot. Everyone was staring up at the red arrow on the floor indicator, their eyes unblinking. Each person was breathing rapidly, and the receptionist's soft sobs added to the atmosphere, making it feel particularly oppressive and tense
"Isn't it enough to just throw her out? It's very dangerous to take the stairs." Old Lin pointed at the receptionist and looked at Tang Zheng, saying, "You don't have any more questions, do you?"
"What are you shouting about? Are you trying to get yourself killed?" Kang Songde was originally taking out a handkerchief to wipe the sweat from his forehead, but startled by him, the handkerchief fell to the ground
