Chapter 3, Killing the Zombies

Dark Small Medium Large Original Scroll to Bottom

In "Zombie Report," after a day of exercise, Leng Yang began to document his findings. He had not used a pen in a long time, but only the things recorded with a pen would leave a profound impression in his mind. This would be the foundation for his future survival and livelihood

Firstly, the strength of zombies is somewhat greater than that of ordinary people. Leng Yang has tried and found that no matter what he does, he cannot exert enough force in a small area to break through a wooden door; he can only kick it down. However, perhaps a boxing champion could, so he still needs to train.

He had propped the sofa against the wooden door in advance, unafraid of the zombies bursting out, but he could feel the impact from inside growing stronger. After securing the upper part with wire, Leng Yang had no choice but to move the sofa aside and crouch down to wrap the wire around. This was the first time he had used such a method, and Leng Yang was very careful. He used ten strands of wire, which was all the stock he had found at home.

After searching for a long time at home, the weapon Cold Sun found that nothing was quite suitable. Following the events of the last time, he realized that reality is not as simple as in novels. He did not believe that wielding a kitchen knife would make him invincible. In the end, after much deliberation, he chose a somewhat rusty axe, which he did not even know had been in the house for so long.

"Even universities have never taken writing a thesis this seriously." Leng Yang looked down on himself.

Arriving at the door of room 7 - 3, Leng Yang clearly heard the footsteps inside still moving. He calmly took out nails, wire, and a hammer from his bag, preparing to block the door with the wire, which could hold off the zombies for a while

The zombie, after all, cannot defy the skeletal movement laws of a humanoid creature. It struggled desperately beneath Leng Yang, even attempting to attack him with its feet.

He shook the ash onto the zombie, and Leng Yang continued, "It's a pity you mhetushu.com.com don't have a meow | meow. I have studied this method thoroughly in cartoons; this kind of binding is definitely comfortable." In truth, he did not want to face the zombie, which was oozing more and more black blood from the corner of its mouth, but in order to cultivate his combat awareness and to rid himself of fear, he persisted time and again.

What a pity, what a pity, this is an advanced binding method, splitting into two strands from the neck, passing through the armpits. It seems I still have some strength after all. Cold Yang endured waves of nausea in front of the zombies while talking nonsense.

The zombie's feet were clad in a pair of cotton shoes. Although it sometimes felt painful when kicked by Leng Yang, it was not afraid of infection. Thus, before long, the zombie had its hands and feet severed by Leng Yang, becoming a mere human stick.

Leng Yang finally breathed a sigh of relief; he had achieved victory. This time, he did not evade the challenge. Every method he employed was accomplished through his own efforts, and the execution was exceptionally perfect. Initially, he only intended to use barbed wire as a barrier and then kill the zombie, but now he had unexpectedly left behind a specimen that posed no threat whatsoever

Fourthly, at this point, Leng Yang couldn't help but feel a bit sad; the mouse that had been bitten was not infected. However, he had witnessed with his own eyes the one-armed zombie wandering back and forth downstairs. Could it be that this thing only infects humans

With a crash, the door was pushed open. After a moment of chaotic noise, the scene that came into view for Leng Yang was alarming: the zombie had finally managed to force the door open, and several iron wires and nails had been dislodged from the half-collapsed wooden door. Fortunately, Leng Yang had secured enough wire mesh; now, one of the zombie's claws was caught in the hole of the wooden door, which was held at an angle by the wire, though it was clear that the wire mesh would not hold for long.

In the room filled with zombies, Leng Yang carefully scanned https://wwwhetushu.com.com. He found some biscuits and, most importantly, a few bottles of cola. He estimated that this was a young tenant, as the place was quite messy and there were many electronic devices. There wasn't much else, but he did find a bag of phosphorus-containing laundry detergent, which was a good item that could be used to start a fire, as mentioned in the survival manual

In the following two days, Leng Yang recalled the depictions of zombies in novels and films, continuously learning about them. He approached the zombies, keeping a safe distance, and placed the blood of a mouse beneath the zombies' building, conducting experiments repeatedly. He used various objects to provoke the zombies to bite, and even captured a few live mice to see if they would mutate after being bitten by the zombies.

Secondly, blood is indeed very attractive to zombies; even a few drops of rat blood can drive them into a frenzy. Leng Yang realized that he had been somewhat impulsive that day; the rat blood on his clothes not only drove this creature mad, but also the two on the eighth floor.

Cold Yang, disregarding the iron wire that was not yet untangled, rolled on the ground and stood up. He picked up the fire axe placed nearby and, taking advantage of the zombie's arm being restricted by the small hole in the door, struck its claws fiercely several times. The zombie pushed against the door with increasing force. Seeing this, Cold Yang became anxious and switched to using both hands, gripping the axe tightly and jumping up to strike down with all his might.

Fifth, the zombie's claws have indeed grown longer and sharper. Leng Yang is somewhat concerned that the cardboard may not hold up, but the combination of silk and cardboard is certainly effective. He conducted numerous experiments with that zombie claw, and it successfully blocked the attacks. However, after about ten strikes, the cardboard shattered, and the silk could no longer withstand the force

The sound of "bang" was that of a nail being driven into the wall. Indeed, the zombies were very sensitive to sound, as the zombies in the room rushed to the door, continuously slamming against the wooden door.

With a "swish," Leng Yang chose a position and struck the zombie's neck with an axe, embedding it half an inch deep. However, the zombie continued to move, and with this blow from Leng Yang, both the zombie and the entire wooden door finally collapsed violently onto the hallway.

As the days passed, the food in Leng Yang's home dwindled. Of course, his exercise regimen had shown some results; at least, he had progressed from being a homebody who could only do 50 sit-ups to now being able to do 500. Although he felt exhausted after completing them, Leng Yang always felt that his stomach looked smaller than before when he gazed at himself in the mirror. Each time, he would look left and right with a proud expression.

Ultimately, it is the protection of the body that matters. The awareness that being scratched by a zombie can lead to infection has deeply penetrated people's minds through games and novels. Leng Yang did not dare to be careless at all. Military boots, jeans, a coat, and a silk shirt were all essential. Leng Yang also carefully trimmed a milk carton and some other kraft paper, which he then placed in the layers of his clothing, finally putting on thick mountaineering gloves.

After completing his research on zombies, Leng Yang returned to his previous life. He gradually increased his exercise regimen, frantically searching for food and drink in the upper floors of the building, particularly focusing on strengthening his grip training

It seemed to have caught the scent of the cold sun, constantly lifting its head to gaze at the cold sun

Leng Yang set down his pen, stretched his wrist, and picked up the axe again to practice. His strength and accuracy were insufficient; to kill a zombie, the best method was to strike like the ancient warriors, severing the head with a single blow. However, for a reclusive man to accomplish this action, the difficulty was far from ordinary

Leng Yang felt somewhat nervous, but he had anticipated this situation long ago. Therefore, he continued to hammer in the nails for the bookbinding, and after securing two of them, he wrapped the pre-measured iron wire around them, forming several barriers.

At the moment when Leng Yang was crouching down to twist the iron wire, a sudden "whoosh" sounded as a zombie's claw pierced through the wooden door, appearing right above his head, perfectly passing between the two strands of iron wire.

Leng Yang used the hemp rope he found at home to tie the zombie to the railing in the hallway, lit a cigarette for himself, and watched this constantly writhing trophy

Thirdly, a person's scent is not an overwhelmingly strong attraction, but it cannot be absent either. The main issue is that it is difficult to determine whether sound or scent acts first

Leng Yang found a square boss stool at home, which had wooden crossbars above its four legs. He used a saw to grind down the legs, and his hand passed through the crossbar, resulting in a small wooden shield. That day, the zombies did not damage the iron barrel, so this thick wooden stool should also serve some purpose.

At this moment, Leng Yang realized that this method was effective. Suppressing the nausea within, he controlled his trembling hands while silently reciting, "Server reboot, server reboot. Fear not, reboot, chop it down and then reboot!" He firmly pinned the zombie down and chopped at the remaining hand of the zombie with his axe, which he had restrained with his left hand that was wrapped around a wooden stool.

After three days of various peculiar experiments, Leng Yang discovered several key points regarding zombies

Watching the body of the mouse split in half slowly become still, Leng Yang disregarded the blood splattered on him, pushed the door open, and stepped outside. This time, he could not afford to be afraid; he had to fight earnestly and learn, for there would no longer be such a relaxed environment for him to face the zombies in the future

Leng Yang carefully observed the zombie right beneath his eyelids. Its skin had completely shriveled, taking on a bizarre grayish-white hue, with the eyeballs devoid of pupils and sclera, appearing as a blank expanse. Its teeth had become protruding, and a considerable amount of foul-smelling black liquid oozed from the corners of its mouth

Fortunately, this is how Leng Yang considers it. He can first clean the rooms on the upper floors, where there are zombies, and he might find some long-shelf-life packaged food. Each time, he should only face a small number, one or two, which still offers some hope

The zombies were unable to exert force, so they all leaned against the wooden door, continuously pulling at it, producing an unpleasant "creaking" sound as the iron wire rubbed against the wood.

The sixth point is that the fatal weakness of zombies lies in their heads; everything else is inconsequential. However, just like the first zombie that Leng Yang killed, zombies currently cannot perform any reverse joint movements or exhibit tentacle-like abilities. Severing their limbs and knocking out their teeth renders them no longer a threat

Buttoning up the hood of his coat, a makeshift armored figure represented all of Leng Yang's courage. Glancing at his fully armed reflection in the mirror, Leng Yang felt quite satisfied. Just before stepping out, he struck down hard with an axe on the mouse he had caught a few days earlier, which he had specifically kept for practicing his courage

After inventorying the food in the kitchen, Leng Yang sat on the bed and began to make a difficult decision. He had to go out, first to search for food and water, and then he must personally confront the zombies once more. The last encounter could not be considered a battle; he could not hide in the room forever. As soon as he stepped outside, he would have to face the zombies.

Leng Yang gripped the axe in his hand without hesitation, filled with confidence from the freshly severed zombie claw. He could kill zombies just as easily. His greatest fear was that a zombie could still move even after being chopped into pieces, but the completely motionless claw he had just encountered clearly indicated the answer to him

Leng Yang watched the zombie struggling to get up from the ground. Suddenly inspired, he pulled out the axe lodged in the zombie's neck and sat down heavily on its back
