Chapter 4, Tracking
A middle-aged man of short stature was seen conversing with a bald man as he emerged from the room. Da Kai and the burly man were unloading items. Out of curiosity, I leaned in to take a look, and I found that the contents included almost all kinds of daily necessities, even sleeping bags. The items in the toolkit astonished me; in addition to a Wolf Eye flashlight, there was also an entrenching tool. They were even equipped with military knives and homemade detonators. Are we in this line of work to rob tombs?
Fourth Master, what exactly are we here to do this time? Could it be that you brought me here to steal books from tombs? I cannot do that
Then let's hurry and drive away; this place is not suitable for staying long. Da Kai, have we prepared all our equipment? These people will definitely not let you leave easily; we must win by acting swiftly!
"How did you know?" Fourth Master asked nonchalantly
Did you definitely shake them off? At this moment, Fourth Master appeared somewhat anxious
I just got off the car and went to the hospital in this small county to pick up some medication for external injuries. Just as I was about to leave with my books, three people entered the hospital, but I didn't pay much attention to them. However, as I walked, I sensed something was off; it seemed that two people were following me, keeping a distance that allowed them to see my movements. So, I made a few detours to shake them off before returning.
Mr. Li is all set, and everything is in the back. Saying this, he opened the door and started the car, speeding away.
Fourth Master chuckled and said: "We are not tomb raiders; we are here to invite the gods..."
I really do not understand what we are supposed to accomplish with this * picture * book. Throughout the journey, we have been low-key, yet it seems that Da Kai has attracted attention, which indicates that our purpose must involve the interests of others. This deeply unsettles me. I have never made any significant mistakes since childhood; even failing an exam feels like a grave error to me. I would return home to a severe beating from my father. If I were to cause any trouble this time, I would probably face severe consequences upon returning home. As I was anxiously contemplating how to ask Fourth Master about the purpose of this trip, the vehicle suddenly stopped in front of a simple yet distinctive building. After seeing tall skyscrapers, this small structure felt particularly refreshing.
Da Kai said: "Master Li, we are being watched! There is a group of people who seem to have similar objectives as us"
I was taken aback by Da Kai's words, and before I could react, he pushed me into the car. The bald man and the big guy outside quickly got into the car as well. At that moment, Fourth Master was resting with his eyes closed, but upon sensing something was amiss, he stood up and asked what was going on
Rest assured, Master Li, I have made all the arrangements ahead.
"Where is the tour guide you contacted here, Huazi?" Fourth Master said to the bald man
Master Li, I am someone you have nurtured personally, and I have also risked my life on the front lines. I am capable of handling this matter. Based on my previous experience, these two individuals are certainly not ordinary thieves; their method of following is not aimed at stopping me, but rather to keep me within their line of sight, clearly indicating they want to ascertain my background. Moreover, it is difficult for someone who has not undergone training to realize they are being followed.
