Chapter 9: Teaching (Part 1)

Ye Ping said softly: "There are a total of five, and our class has three people, while Class One and Class Two each have one."

Ye Ping pondered for a moment and suddenly asked, "How do you practice introspection?"

The Sports Department is certainly not here to walk the runway; it is to inform the new students about the physical fitness tests scheduled for the afternoon. It turns out that two competitions will be held at University A around the National Day after the new students enroll: the Freshman Cup and the Sports Meeting

Ye Fan could not discern any necessary connection between carrying the suitcase and this matter, so he could only stand there in silence.

Ye Ping stared at him in surprise: "Do you not understand introspection?"

Ye Ping said: "What are you pretending for! Don't you know what kind of person you are!"

How do you introspect

Ye Fan said: "I don't know, but I can just sense some people."

Once again, there was an uproar; the cheerful and open-minded individuals immediately became eager to try, while the taciturn and introverted ones appeared utterly bewildered

Ye Ping expressed her confusion: "You don't even know about internal vision? Has no one taught you?"

Ye Fan was drenched in sweat. In fact, if it weren't for Ye Ping's earlier revelation, he would have only been able to sense two, one of which was himself. At this moment, he immediately asked without shame, "How many are there?"

Ye Fan suddenly realized and said to the book: "You see it now!"

Everyone was marveling at how decisively the old man concluded the matter. Suddenly, three men and one woman entered from outside. All four were robust and strong, and Ye Fan initially thought they were the counselors, but he felt something was off with the number. At that moment, the other party introduced themselves, revealing that they were from the Sports Department of the Chinese Department's Student Union. Ye Fan couldn't help but sigh inwardly, indeed, they were athletes, just look at their physiques.

As for the other sporting event, there is no need for further explanation. Moreover, that activity is not exclusive to freshmen; unless there are particularly outstanding talents among the newcomers, it is generally the upperclassmen who participate. The Freshman Cup not only requires freshmen to compete for honor on behalf of their departments, but it is also a preparation for the more important seasonal football cup in the spring of next year. Upon hearing the term "preparation," Ye Fan almost thought he was part of the Chinese national team. The Freshman Cup not only requires freshmen to compete for honor on behalf of their departments, but it is also a preparation for the more important seasonal football cup in the spring of next year. Upon hearing the term "preparation," Ye Fan almost thought he was part of the Chinese national team.

The so-called Freshman Cup is essentially a football competition, where first-year students from various departments form teams to compete. It is ostensibly aimed at fostering the spirit of unity and progress among the freshmen. However, the first thought that crosses everyone's mind is: what about the girls? In fact, this misrepresents the original intention behind the establishment of the Freshman Cup, which was also meant to include female competitions. Yet, football has always appealed to girls primarily through the athletes, rather than the sport itself. Therefore, selecting a girls' football team from just one grade is an exceedingly difficult task. Moreover, there are some majors with a scarcity of female students, where sometimes there aren't even 11 girls in a single grade, making the prospect of forming a football team even more challenging. Consequently, the women's football competition of the Freshman Cup has never been held, effectively leading to its premature demise.

One by one, the classmates took the stage, and only the first person brought a sense of novelty to everyone. The subsequent individuals almost all followed the introduction style he set. The only difference was that some would show off their humor, while others would feign profundity. Li Dawei and Chen Yongxu presented themselves as incredibly suave, even though there were no girls in the class who particularly caught their eye; still, any conversation was better than none. Yan Bing took the stage with utmost seriousness, not glancing aside, appearing more profound than all the others who were already deep; of course, Ye Fan knew he was compelled to do so.

The next three classes will proceed separately. Ye Fan and the few people he knows all belong to Class Three. The counselor began to drone on about the rules and regulations regarding diagrams and books. Just as everyone was feeling drowsy, the tone suddenly shifted: "Next, let's have the students introduce themselves to each other. Each person come up and give a self-introduction."

Ye Fan was left speechless: "What?"

Ye Fan still did not understand, and Ye Ping patiently repeated the question for the fourth time, while it was Ye Fan who became frustrated first: "What are you saying? I don't understand."

When the girls began to introduce themselves, the atmosphere became much more lively, as the boys were generally more enthusiastic and expressive. When Ye Ping took the stage and exclaimed, "My name is Ye Ping, Ye as in leaf, Ping as in apple," the energy in the room reached its peak. Ye Ping's appearance was already striking enough, and given her previous encounter with Ye Fan, this statement immediately sparked everyone's imagination.

Ye Fan was even more astonished, unable to believe that there was such a significant gap between himself and others, feeling that he perceived only half of what others did. The two individuals he could not sense were likely superior to him in skill! In that moment, Ye Fan truly felt his own insignificance. It now seemed that there were far more practitioners in this world than he had imagined, with the vast majority of them being beyond his perception.

Ye Fan said: "This is introspection!"

The personnel from the Sports Department were even more straightforward than the old man just now, addressing the aforementioned matters in just a few minutes. They then informed everyone that all must gather at the playground in the afternoon, after which they left.

Ye Ping asked: "Who did you learn your skills from?"

Ye Fan shook his head while concentrating to take notes; these specialized terms had never been taught to him by his father. At this moment, Ye Ping asked again: "If you don't even know about internal observation, how can you sense others' feelings?"

Ye Ping disdainfully remarked, "Otherwise, would I be looking for you to carry the suitcase?"

Ye Fan truthfully stated: "Including you and me, there are three."

Ye Fan nodded and said, "I do not understand"

Ye Fan hesitated in silence, while Ye Ping did not press him for an explanation, stating: "Using one's breath to sense the presence of others is called inner vision!"

Ye Ping smiled and said, "Is that person next to you named Yan Bing?"

Ye Fan nodded. Ye Ping then said, "I didn't expect you to be so incompetent"

It was Ye Fan's turn, and he began with his famous line: "I am Ye Fan, with 'Ye' from leaves and 'Fan' from ordinary." The crowd erupted in excitement; most people had heard of Gu Long's famous quotes, and those who hadn't were puzzled as to why everyone was suddenly so enthusiastic. However, Ye Fan, like a book, only peaked at this moment, and thereafter, everything returned to a state of calm.

Half of the audience's attention was focused on Ye Fan, making him quite uncomfortable, and he felt a strong urge to go up and eliminate Ye Ping "Star Killer"

Ye Fan showed no reaction: "What did you say?"

The orientation meeting for the new students came to a grand conclusion, and then, under the guidance of the counselor, they proceeded to tour the campus. Unbeknownst to her, Ye Ping had moved closer to Ye Fan, while Yan Bing and the other two immediately took the hint and walked away, their smiles decidedly lewd.

Ye Ping asked, "Then how did you sense me?"

Ye Ping said: "Only now do I realize there are three, can one still claim to be competent?"

Just as everyone thought it was time to disperse, three people entered: two men and one woman. Ye Fan initially assumed they were from some student organization, but to his surprise, they introduced themselves as the counselors for three different classes. The three were graduate students currently enrolled, likely because they had exhausted their research topics and thus took on this promising part-time role as counselors.

Ye Fan did not understand for a moment: "What?"

Ye Fan was puzzled by her intentions and looked at her strangely. Ye Ping gently asked, "How many have you felt?"

Ye Ping repeated the previous question: "How many do you feel? In our department."
