Chapter 6, the Temple of Daji

Dark Small Medium Large Original Scroll to Bottom

Jedi Sacker also began to concentrate and recall a solution. While Blaze sat on a rock, gazing at the river with worry, he had already thought of an idea. He quietly rushed upstream, hiding his body behind the cover of the rocks, and then sprayed a burst of freezing air at the river.

In search of the Goddess Daji's temple, Chiyan has spent a full two months in the Dream Forest, thus she is very well prepared. She carries a spark with her and now takes a torch from her backpack, igniting it as she walks deeper into the cave.

Two enormous stone carvings stand side by side. The one on the left, upon closer inspection, depicts a bizarre image of a wolf-headed, human-bodied figure, holding a massive scepter in his hand. The top of the scepter aligns with a large protrusion on the left rock peak. His body is adorned with a solemn robe, illustrated by the markings of the rock. In the position of his other hand, there are several large, stacked rocks that, from a distance, resemble a pile of books. The image on the right features a deity with an eagle's head and a serpent's body, grasping the ground with five claws. He wears a crown and displays a pair of enormous and peculiar wings. His body is similarly adorned with a solemn robe, marked by the rock. In the position of his other hand, there are also several large, stacked rocks that appear like a pile of books from afar. In this remote location, the presence of such two grand stone carvings suggests that there are indeed some unknown secrets hidden here

The half-elf Ember understands some magic of the elven race and is also a skilled archer. She carries a small pouch with her, and every so often, she opens the pouch to release numerous tiny green insects, allowing them to scout the path ahead and search for any powerful magical beasts nearby. Therefore, Jedi Sacker must exercise double caution to conceal his whereabouts

After observing for a while, he finally understood the intention behind the fiery imagery in Cresset's illustrations.

Behind her, a pair of lantern-like eyes appeared silently, exceptionally conspicuous in the dark cave, yet she remained focused on the path ahead, completely unaware of them. Although the cave was rugged and difficult to traverse, there were no forks in the road, which saved them a great deal of time. After walking for over an hour, they felt a breeze coming from ahead, and with a surge of spirit, they quickened their pace. Indeed, ahead lay the cave's exit, a small opening bathed in a hazy white light. Having been in the cave for so long, she squinted upon exiting, and once her eyes adjusted to the light, she was stunned by the scene before her.

The water of this river is highly corrosive, making it impossible to swim across. With the slender figure of a half-elf, she would likely be left with nothing but a skeleton after swimming halfway. It seems quite challenging for her to go up the mountain alone to chop down trees and drag them back to make a raft. Moreover, after throwing a few pieces of wood into the water and observing the speed of corrosion, it is clear that the raft cannot be made too thin. Most importantly, regardless of how many layers the raft is made of, the ropes used to bind the raft will definitely corrode first. Jedi was already impatient at the back, watching the half-elf girl walk to the riverbank and then back again, only to walk over once more and return again, his eyes blazing with frustration. He could not understand what the girl was doing, and in his anger, his fiery red eyes fixated on the beautiful girl's pert backside, wishing he could rush over, tackle her, and devour her whole, especially since he was still hungry. With his temper flaring, how could he possibly remain calm?

Jedi created another piece of floating ice and deliberately threw a stone onto it, allowing it to continue drifting downstream. The elf, being an intelligent creature, had a spark of inspiration in her fiery eyes as she contemplated the feasibility of this method. She ran a few steps along the riverbank after the floating ice, then leaped up gracefully, landing lightly on the surface of the ice

The cave at the foot of the mountain appears low and small from the outside, yet it is quite spacious within. The interior of the cave is damp, cold, and dark, with stalactites dripping water rhythmically, and the echoes resonate, creating an atmosphere of profound depth

It is said that this pair of silver water kettles possesses a special magical effect. However, when Chihuo asked her adoptive father, Ibek merely smiled and advised her never to drink from the water that had been held in both silver kettles at the same time, yet he refused to reveal the true purpose of the kettles.

The Dreamy Forest does not have large magical beasts, but the terrain is extremely complex. There are swampy floating plants that appear to be lush green grass on the surface, as well as deep pits that plunge hundreds of feet. The river in the valley originates from a live volcano and possesses strong corrosive properties; apart from the red-capped flamingos, virtually no creatures can enter the water

Jedi Sacker quietly followed behind the half-elf Blaze as they settled in a valley

"The deity that governs life and death is mentioned alongside this. What does it mean? Is this cave the gateway between life and death?" Blaze murmured in confusion. Her expression gradually became resolute: "In any case, this is the most peculiar place I have discovered in the Dream Forest, and I must get to the bottom of it!"

Chire Flame. Cresset furrowed her delicate brows, murmuring in confusion: "And - the - God of the Tomb of the Book, Anubis, one of the deities of the underworld, who holds the keys to the passage in and out of the realm of the dead, is a highly authoritative deity of the underworld. How could his image appear here"

The freezing air quickly turned the river water into a large block of floating ice, drifting downstream. Its composition is also that of the corrosive river water, which does not repel each other. To completely melt such a large piece of ice, it can only rely on the melting of the warm river water. During this time, it is sufficient to reach the opposite side of the river

The floating ice on the water's surface caught the attention of Chiyan. She was quite surprised to see floating ice in the river, but the terrain here is very complex, and she is not very familiar with it, so she did not suspect any foul play.

Her father is a forest elf who fell in love with a human woman. Shortly after giving birth to Blaze, this woman fell seriously ill. Her husband took her everywhere in search of medical treatment, yet he could not cure her. In the end, he heard the legend of the goddess Daji and, together with his dwarf friend Ibek, came to the Dream Forest.

She seemed to have discovered something, Jedi. Sacker followed from a distance, watching her continuously release and retract the scouting spirit bugs, then proceed along the river valley and through the jungle. Finally, she stopped in front of a mountain.

Ibek stroked his big beard and once smiled at her happily, saying: "My fiery treasure, when you grow up and are ready to marry, I will tell you." Thus, Chiyan could only carry this relic of her parents with curiosity.

Would a temple of a deity be built in such a place? Jedi Saker felt somewhat puzzled, but he and Tu Shu were watching from a distance. Being far away allowed them to see the entire shape of the mountain more clearly, and he suddenly realized that the mountain was somewhat peculiar. At the top of the cave entrance, which resembled an upside-down bat, there was a crack that extended straight to the summit, as if it had been torn apart by a tremendous force, splitting it apart to the left and right.

In the end, only the dwarf Ibeik returned to Ironforge, adopting the Flame as if she were his own daughter, while the forest elf and his ailing wife disappeared without a trace.

There is also this figure with an eagle's head, whose two eyes represent the sun and the moon. The two snakes entwined in a single body symbolize yin and yang, while the five claws represent the five basic elements: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. He is the god of life, Hoduras. How could anyone worship the gods of life and death together? This is quite strange. To elaborate, these two deities are spirits under the main god worshipped by the Holy Church of Light, while Goddess Daji has no place in the temple of the supreme god. If this is indeed her main temple, her followers would have no reason to place the statues of two higher deities at the entrance of her temple. At her slender waist, akin to a delicate willow, hung two small silver water flasks, crafted in the shape of leaves from pure silver. However, she had never used them to drink water; they were merely two keepsakes, created by the dwarf Ibek for the couple when her parents were married.

The stones in the valley are all jet black, and this mountain is no exception, dark and ominous. The river, with its strong corrosive properties, flows here and then turns eastward. On the opposite side of the river, there is a pitch-black cave entrance, appearing faintly amidst the steam rising from the river water, resembling the gaping maw of a bat hanging upside down.

After growing up, Chiyan accidentally overheard her adoptive father and wife discussing her biological parents' past. She secretly ran out, hoping to find the whereabouts of her real parents. There, she encountered Prince Martin and his companions, who had escaped from the Kingdom of Croatia, and agreed to help them

Most elves worship the Nature Goddess, and the half-elf Blaze is no exception. Although she grew up in Ironforge, she does not worship the dwarven deity, the God of Forging. The two gods depicted in the stone carvings are not among those she venerates, but that does not mean she is unaware of these two figures; she recognizes the deities illustrated in the carvings.

Creating a gentle breeze or slightly altering the flow of the nearby river was still quite easy for her, as the blazing flame stepped onto the floating ice and slowly drifted towards the opposite shore

The crack is not large, and the jagged rocks inside interlock in a way that makes it impossible to pass through even if one were to crawl in. However, it is uncertain whether there is a different world within the dark opening below. Taking this cave crack as the central line, the entire smooth black mountain is divided into two sides, each adorned with a large mural carved into the mountain itself.

In a moment of excitement, Jedi quietly moved closer, while the keen-eared half-elf, Blaze, was completely focused on the stone wall carvings and thus remained utterly unaware.

The half-elf, having settled in, slung her green war bow over her shoulder and set out alone in search of her target

As he watched the floating ice drift away, Jedi's eyes blazed with anger. If it weren't for the uncertainty of whether this was indeed the Temple of the Goddess Daji, and his need for the assistance of the daughter of the forest spirit, he would have already crossed the river on the ice by himself
