Chapter 005
Upon witnessing a disturbance, naturally, there were onlookers drawn to the scene. In just a short while, a considerable number of people had gathered, creating a snowball effect, with more and more individuals arriving. Some, fearing they might miss out on a good vantage point to 'watch,' rushed over, and several people brushed past Nie Rang, which greatly displeased him. The innate noble demeanor of the blood clan demanded that they maintain a polite distance from him and everyone else. Such contact infuriated him
Finally, the strange sound waves, situated between ultrasound and sound waves, suddenly ceased. The blood clan members, immersed in enjoyment, regained their clarity of mind; the Chief Justice had completed her part. Caroline removed her gloves and silently walked back. Those runes were ancient blood clan characters, representing a series of qualities that enforcers should possess: impartiality, strictness, decisiveness, bravery, and adherence to the law. Most of these characters were pronounced in ultrasound, inaudible to humans, and now, very few blood clan members could understand this language.
Due to the death of Gracchus, Ye Xiu's qualifications were also called into question, so this time in the magical bath, only Piatti was present.
Nie Rang was walking down the street when he suddenly turned around and shouted at the crowd behind him: "Piyati, come out!" Behind him, a flamboyantly dressed young man chuckled, and his face transformed into that of the newly appointed predator, Piyati: "Nie Rang, you must understand, I have to execute the orders of the Senate!" Nie Rang snorted, his expression shifting as he retorted: "Don't forget, who commands the predators!" "But the status of the elders is above that of the Chief Justice—this is the prevailing way of survival. Whoever can offer you more benefits, you support!" Piyati said, somewhat dazed. Nie Rang snorted again to show his disdain. Although he was not an antiquated old-school vampire, he had his own principles and found such theories unworthy of comment.
Seemingly casual, Piyati glanced over and saw that Nie Rang had already walked far away. He released the opponent he had just beaten and stood up, while his subordinates quickly surrounded him, easily separating Piyati from the onlookers. "How is it?" Piyati asked one of his subordinates beside him. "No problem, it's already taken care of. We have placed at least three trackers on him, and I have also contacted a friend at the National Security Bureau to monitor him via satellite!" the subordinate replied quietly, and Piyati nodded. The subordinate hesitated for a moment and said, "The National Security Bureau is asking for five hundred thousand..." Piyati waved his hand, and the subordinate nodded and stepped back. A group of people walked to a row of cars by the street, and one subordinate opened the door of a business sedan with three rows of seats, and Piyati climbed in. Inside was a complete world of electronic devices, and on the main screen, three red dots were moving in unison.
Nie Rang remained silent, turning to continue walking forward. Piatti had the orders from the Senate, and Nie Rang was unable to do anything about it. Piatti chuckled and casually slapped the backside of a beautiful woman passing by, causing the girl to scream. The man beside her rushed towards Piatti, and immediately a crowd gathered around. Nie Rang looked back and couldn't help but shake his head: where is the nobility of the blood clan in this? He is simply a little thug! The venue for the ceremony is a secret establishment of the vampire clan. On the surface, it appears to be a food processing factory, but it secretly provides supplementary meals for some vampires: animal blood products. The establishment of this factory was highly controversial, as it supports certain foods with blood, rather than the vampires directly consuming fresh blood as before. With this factory, vampires can also store food in refrigerators like humans, simply opening the packaging to eat. This concept caused a significant uproar at the time, with many elder vampires firmly opposing it. However, the new generation of vampires has become accustomed to this lifestyle and strongly supports it. Amidst the ongoing debate, Lord Pusatick, one of the elders, stepped forward to endorse the establishment of such a factory. Ultimately, the factory proved to be highly profitable. Although the elder vampires still adhere to their traditional way of life, they have become powerless to control the new vampires who prefer to live in their own way.
The gneiss that Piatti stands on was moved from an ancient altar, and compared to the old altar, only this gneiss remains preserved. The gneiss is placed in a massive stainless steel vessel, and above Piatti's head, seven slender stainless steel tubes hang suspended. When the moon rises to its zenith, the roof of the factory opens, and bright moonlight spreads throughout the entire factory, causing all the dark creatures to emit a murmuring moan, as this moonlit bath is truly delightful
Piatti tonight unusually shed his fashionable attire, donning an ancient classic look: a black velvet tuxedo, with a black satin front, embroidered with the mysterious totem of his family! The Brujah clan to which Piatti belongs is not active tonight, and the indifference among the Kindred is particularly evident here—especially considering someone like Piatti, who is not widely recognized even within his own clan. However, none of this could dampen Piatti's enthusiasm. He stood on a massive slab of granite, which seemed to have been moved from some unknown place, incongruous with the modern hall around him. His deep-set eyes were brimming with excitement! Even the usually reserved vampires could not remain indifferent at this moment, let alone the always flamboyant Piatti
Only predators can monitor other predators without being detected, but this is not absolute, as there are distinctions among predators themselves
On the night of the Piatti's magical bathing ceremony, the full moon hung high in the sky, its clear light serving as the source of power for all dark creatures. Choosing this night was also to ensure the smooth progress of the ritual. The last three to arrive were the Chief Justice, Nielang, and Becker. The Chief Justice was preoccupied with searching for information, while the reasons for Nielang and Becker's reluctance to arrive too early were self-evident—they did not like this new companion
Seven officiants slowly ascended the stairs, each holding a black jar. Inside the jars was a mixture of blood from various tribes, swaying gently and reflecting the moonlight, emanating a seductive purplish-blue hue. Nie Rang and Becker felt a surge of thirst in their throats. Upon reaching the upper floor, they found seven stainless steel containers, each as tall as a person, already filled with fresh blood. The officiants poured the blood from the jars into these containers. Below, someone emerged holding a golden box, which Lord Pusatick personally opened. Wrapped in red silk was a piece of purple crystal, said to be the blood fragment of the third generation of the blood tribe.
Seven elders stood up, each followed by thirteen powerful members of their families: from the oldest to the youngest, these thirteen individuals represented various stages. The seven elders pierced their right ears, extracting a drop of purple blood, which was caught by someone nearby in a black jar. Subsequently, the thirteen blood clan members from each family imitated the elders, extracting their own blood, but the later generations had to produce increasingly larger amounts, with the lowest-ranking blood clan member required to extract fourteen drops. Several blood kin entered the stainless steel vessel. They removed the clothing from Piatti's body, and the Grand Judge stood up; it was her turn to take the stage. Caroline approached the vessel, and someone presented a tray beside her, which held a pair of gold and black gloves. The Grand Judge donned the gloves and recited an ancient incantation, then raised her arm and swiftly drew in the air. One by one, gold and black runes flew from her fingertips, rapidly adhering to Piatti's body and quickly permeating his skin. The Grand Judge's speed was astonishing; in just half a minute, dozens of runes had already merged into Piatti's body. The flying runes emitted sharp whistling sounds, each corresponding to the pronunciation of the runes, harmonizing with the incantation spoken by the Grand Judge, resembling a bizarre dark hymn.
The Blood Clan's secret realm is a vast underground world, housing important sacrificial items and ancient archives of the Blood Clan, as well as the most comprehensive materials on dark magic. Chief Justice Caroline, after undergoing strict identity verification, passed through seven magically reinforced gates to enter this eerie and dark underground world. Under the dim blue light, there are rows of towering bookshelves, each over a person's height, filled with ancient books that have yellowed pages and are four fingers thick. Further along, there are even shelves displaying ancient parchment scrolls. The Chief Justice approached the central bookshelf, which was organized chronologically, with the middle section representing the era when magic flourished in the Middle Ages. She pulled out a book and sat down at a table to read it carefully.
Lord Pusatik placed the purple crystal into Piati's mouth, and he slowly approached the vessel. Then, raising his hand, he announced: "Begin!" The seven officiants simultaneously pulled the valves beside them, and seven columns of blood erupted from seven stainless steel tubes. A sudden red glow emanated from Piati, within which faintly visible were the runes drawn by the Grand Judge moments ago. The blood flowing from the seven tubes swirled above Piati's head, as if held aloft by some unseen force. Piati opened his mouth, and a beam of purple light shot forth, as if the blood were being drawn towards him. Seven columns of blood erupted from the seven stainless steel tubes again, and the red glow around Piati intensified, revealing the runes inscribed earlier. The blood continued to swirl above his head, seemingly suspended by an invisible power. Piati opened his mouth once more, and a thin stream of blood shot into his mouth. It was unclear how much blood entered him, but with a sharp crack, the red glow shattered like glass. Piati closed his mouth, and the red light surrounding him surged suddenly. The blood above him lost its support and fell like a torrential rain. The seven elders chanted an ancient incantation in low voices, and the temperature in the entire hall plummeted. The blood above transformed into black snowflakes, fluttering down like a gentle snowfall. Piati spread his arms, bathing in the black snowflakes, as a beam of energy shot down from the moonlight. A flash of golden light enveloped Piati— the ritual was complete. He had gained the recognition of darkness, acquired the power of carnivorous sustenance, and would wield this power to uphold the order of darkness.
