Mecha
Light mechs, due to their extensive applicability, are classified in a more complex manner. Currently, the broadly defined light mechs (also known as broadly defined small mechs) are generally divided into three categories: exoskeleton armor, powered armor, and (in a narrow sense) small mechs
The relatively mobile armored units, large bipedal or multi-legged war robots, are well-known manned combat robots, often operated directly by individuals or through remote information connections, engaging in combat through intelligent control of the mechanical body
Medium-sized mecha, also commonly referred to as mecha, may not necessarily take on a humanoid form, and their designs vary across different countries
Power armor originally serves as a supplementary equipment between exoskeleton armor and narrowly defined small mechs, typically ranging from 3 to 5 meters in height. It possesses the characteristics of mechs while retaining considerable flexibility akin to exoskeleton armor. Whether for military or civilian use, it has a significant range of applicability, particularly excelling as a high-performance, ultra-mobile weapon system for a single operator, surpassing both exoskeleton armor and other mechs.
Due to the mechanical power attributes of the exoskeleton armor, it is broadly classified as a small mecha.
In a narrow sense, small mechas generally range from over 5 meters to less than 10 meters in height, making them suitable for various situations in both space and on the ground. They come in diverse forms and are often the main force in urban street battles
Mechas are generally divided into three categories: light, medium, and heavy.
Exoskeleton armor is part of the standard equipment for interstellar soldiers, available in a wide variety. In addition to its powerful protective capabilities, users can gain enhanced strength and speed through the mechanical power provided by the equipment. Furthermore, with the widespread availability of faster computing speeds and the integration of advanced technologies, exoskeleton armor in the era of the starry sky boasts even more powerful functions, including localized exploration radar, night vision, flight, electronic warfare, and wilderness survival, enabling an interstellar soldier's combat effectiveness to rival that of an entire army from the old era.
In fact, there has always been a debate regarding medium mechs and heavy mechs, as the theoretically defined heavy mechs are often excessively large, resembling fortresses more than mechs. Particularly, in some countries, what is referred to as heavy mechs are actually medium mechs with external armaments, which are relatively impractical. Therefore, those generally referred to as heavy mechs or heavily armored mechs are essentially medium mechs, unless the subject is specialized giant mecha weapons exceeding one hundred meters in height
