Chapter 2, Talismans (Part 1)

Dark Small Medium Large Original Scroll to Bottom

Chen Chunzai said: "Boil a basin of hot water and call a few nimble young men over"

Guo Shier carefully observed and discovered that this leaf was very special, adorned with countless patterns, layered and seemingly endless. A faint fragrance wafted through the air, a scent reminiscent of medicinal herbs. He thought to himself: "Could this be the talisman pill? Such a marvelous thing, completely different from the medical practices of my previous life"

Chen Chunzai stared at the wound, and a wooden needle the size of a chopstick appeared in his hand, adorned with countless intricate patterns. The tip of the wooden needle gently traced along the patterns at the edge of the wound. Guo Twelve leaned in closely, clearly seeing the tip of the wooden needle glimmering.

"Patriarch, Uncle Guo Yi and the others have returned! Uncle Guo Yi has sustained serious injuries! We heard that there is a talisman master at the esteemed guest house, so we rushed over... Please save Uncle!"

Guo Shier shook his head; he did not like such utilitarianism, and said: "Uncle Pu'er, is there something you need?"

He is a talisman master! It turns out he is a talisman master!

Guo Daguan said cheerfully, "Alright! Thank you, Old Chen! Thank you!" He knew that Chen Chunzai's asking price was not high, as he only requested a cost price. If he were to purchase the talismans from Fu Danshi, similar to those just used, it would cost at least 2,600 to 3,000 black talismans. Of course, he understood that the price would differ if Chen Chunzai, as a talisman master, were to make the purchase compared to himself.

Four strong men carried a makeshift stretcher, on which lay a robust middle-aged man who had already fallen into a state of unconsciousness. They placed the stretcher on the table, and someone lifted the animal hide covering it. The patterns on the man's body were layered and dense, almost obscuring the skin beneath. Four enormous gashes extended from his left chest to his right abdomen, with blood continuously seeping out.

Following Pu Er, we soon arrived at the entrance of the library.

Pu Er revealed a humble smile and said, "The Twelfth Young Master is now a person of great importance, so I cannot address him as I did before"

Chen Chunzai was also not polite; neither of them had eaten dinner yet. Guo Twelve was so hungry that his stomach was touching his back, and he immediately began to eat heartily.

Chen Chunzai's eyes sparkled with a peculiar light; this little fellow's technique was quite strange, with an exceptionally fast and clean debridement speed, unlike that of a novice. This did not resemble the work of an eight-year-old child, but rather that of a seasoned battlefield veteran. He said, "Not bad, Twelve, where did you learn this?"

Alright, Grandpa Chen

Guo Liang sighed, "Indeed, it is a pity that I have been unable to advance. I can only return to marry and have children, contributing to the family in this way. Hehe, I am just an ordinary fire spellcaster."

Guo Liang said: "Fifteen minutes, this is the fastest recovery time"

Chen Chunzai washed his hands and said, "Guo Clan Leader, we were fortunate this time; I happened to obtain four talismans. Otherwise, it would have been very difficult to save him. Well, for the cleaning and treatment costs, let's set it at one hundred sixty black talismans, and for each talisman... let's charge two thousand black talismans."

A commotion erupted at the entrance as a large group of people surged in, most of whom were talisman warriors, with many of them bare-chested. Guo Twelve noticed that these talisman warriors were covered in intricate patterns.

The next scene completely stunned Guo Twelve

Guo Shier said, "It is simply about cleaning the wound properly; what is so difficult about that"

"Are you coming? Aren't you afraid?" Chen Chunzai felt a deep admiration. An eight-year-old child, able to stand out in such a bloody situation, clearly showed from his calm expression that he was not afraid at all

Chen Chunzai subconsciously asked, then said: "Alright, go wash the wound clean!" He thought it would be a good opportunity to assess Guo Twelve as well.

Chen Chunzai did not speak, he merely nodded slightly

Chen Chunzai turned his head, startling Park Er so much that he dared not continue speaking

Guo Liang said: "Twenty to twenty-five symbols, any more than that will not do"

Chen Chunzai nodded and said, "Twenty-five talismans are quite good. Hmm, after using twenty-five talismans, how long should one wait before using them again?"

There are no particular requirements for dining here; it is sufficient to have a full meal. Soon, the food on the table was cleared away in an instant. A servant brought in a basin of hot water, and after washing their faces and hands, everyone returned to their seats

Guo Daguan immediately breathed a sigh of relief and said, "All consumables will be paid for by the Guo family, and an additional payment of 1,500 black talismans will be made"

Guo Shier anticipated this outcome in his heart, and he smiled as he said, "Thank you, Grandpa Chen"

Black talisman money

As the needle tip moved, the patterns on the skin around Guo Yi's wound gradually disappeared, revealing the original color of the skin. After about half an hour, the skin around the wound was cleaned thoroughly, and no patterns were visible. Chen Chunzhai put away the wooden needle, and a green leaf appeared in his hand.

Twelve Young Masters

Guo Daguan repeatedly said: "Understood... understood! I kindly ask Old Chen to take action and provide treatment"

Guo Twelve originally planned to return home for a visit. Regardless, Guo Liang is his father in this life, even if he does not care about him. He said: "Grandpa Chen..."

Chen Chunzai inquired: "How many symbols can be utilized?"

Guo Liang, accompanied by six wives and several domesticated talisman warriors, respectfully welcomed Chen Chunzhai into the room. He instructed the servants to bring forth a lavish feast, which was essentially the same as before: large pieces of meat, a big pot of soup, and large plates of steamed buns and flatbreads

Chen Chunzai said, "Let's go to the picture book, it's getting late." Behind him were only four talisman warriors, while the other talisman warriors were still with the group of children, responsible for their protection.

Chen Chunzai said lightly: "I thought he was a warrior of the talisman!"

Even though the thunderous noise has been muffled, it still resonates like rolling thunder

Guo Daguan hurriedly said: "Please rest assured, I understand the rules. If I can save him, the Guo family... will certainly offer a generous reward! A generous reward for sure!"

Fu Wushi, originally named Guo Lei, is known as "Baolei" due to his voice resembling thunder and lightning. Over time, few remember his original name. This individual is a minor leader among the Guo family's talisman warriors, but unfortunately, no talisman master has taken him in, leaving him to serve as a guard for the Guo family

Guo Shier was a soldier in his previous life and is very familiar with simple wound cleaning and bandaging

Guo Shier pondered to himself, could it be that gold and silver are not used as currency here, but rather black talisman money? What does black talisman money look like? How come he had previously known nothing about it!

Guo Shier brought a large wooden basin, picked up a piece of coarse cloth, and began to clean the wound. The wound was quite alarming; judging by the shape of the injury, it appeared to have been inflicted by the claws of some terrifying beast. After washing away the blood and dirt, he discovered that although the wound was frightening, it was not fatal. The person's unconsciousness was likely caused by excessive blood loss.

The two individuals discussed the price in a rather subtle manner. If Guo Shier were still the same Guo Shier as before, he would certainly understand nothing. However, he is now completely different; he immediately comprehends that they are negotiating terms. Moreover, it is evident that Chen Chunzai is very assertive; he seems to only require a promise from the clan leader and is not afraid of the other party going back on their word or playing tricks.

Chen Chunzai said: "That is quite an impressive fire sorcerer. What type of fire talisman can be utilized?"

Chen Chunzai walked over, and Guo mhetushu . comcom followed closely behind at twelve. This was indeed a good opportunity for observation. Having seen many dead in his past life, he was not afraid upon seeing Guo Yi's bloodied and mangled appearance. This calm demeanor, however, elevated Chen Chunzai's assessment of this little fellow to a new level.

Chen Chunzai finally understood. Generally speaking, those who can reach the level of a Talismancer Warrior would typically be supported by a Talisman Master or a Talismanist. However, Guo Yi, relying on the full support of the Guo family, has surprisingly also attained the level of a Talismancer Warrior. Such advanced martial prowess is a treasure for any family.

The patriarch said: "Hurry! Quickly call someone!"

Chen Chunzai then took a moment to observe Guo Liang, and with some surprise, he said: "Oh, you are a sorcerer?"

The patriarch Guo Daguan appeared somewhat dazed, seemingly unable to believe the news. Suddenly, he came to his senses and exclaimed, "Quick! Quickly bring it in!" He then instructed everyone to return, stood up, walked in front of Chen Chunzai, and said with a wry smile, "Old Chen, I truly apologize for the trouble, but I must ask for your assistance."

Chen Chunzai was momentarily at a loss for words. He walked up to Guo Yi, examined him closely for a while, and said: "Chief Guo, over seventy of the bright talismans on his skin have been damaged and must be removed... Do not worry about the wounds; I have four talisman pills on hand, which will be just enough. However, after the injuries improve, you will still need to find a talisman master to repair the bright talismans for him."

Guo Shier said, "Grandpa Chen, I am here to help!"

Guo Shier listened as if he were hearing a celestial scripture, completely unable to comprehend what they were saying. However, he was making an effort to remember, intending to seek answers later

Chen Chunzai placed the talisman pill on one of the wounds and then gently tapped it with his finger. Guo Twelve suddenly felt a wave of soul energy, very clear and distinct. He was quite astonished, thinking: "Could it be that the talisman pill is activated using soul power and the volume of knowledge? But how is soul power actually utilized?"

The wound is large, but it did not injure the internal organs; it merely cut through the flesh, so the debridement was quick. Guo Shier discovered that although he was only eight years old, his strength was no less than that of an adult in his previous life

Guo Liang revealed a hint of embarrassment and said: "There are only two types... the Rocket Talisman, which can reach about fifty steps away, and the Explosive Fire Talisman. Hehe, just these two. Unfortunately, I can't find any other fire-type talismans that suit me."

Pu Er was apprehensively glancing at Chen Chunzhai and whispered, "Young Master Twelve, the master and mistress request your presence at home. If you could invite... the talisman master to accompany you..."

The patriarch Guo Daguan was sweating profusely on his forehead. He understood why Chen Chunzai was somewhat irritated and quickly said: "Old Chen, Guo Yi has not followed any talisman master or talisman practitioner; he has been trained by our Guo family..."

The talisman quickly melted, spreading along the wound, and the wound was visibly healing rapidly. After about two to three minutes, only a red line remained at the site of the wound. Chen Chunzai used four talismans in total, completely healing the wound. Although Guo Yi was still in a coma, he was no longer in any danger to his life

The difference between a talisman warrior and a talisman master is merely one character, yet their meanings are entirely distinct. A talisman warrior represents a lower level of martial prowess, while a talisman master is capable of standing alone. Advancing from a talisman warrior to a talisman master is exceedingly difficult, requiring not only a substantial investment of money and resources but also the meticulous training of talisman practitioners and talisman masters.

Chen Chunzai listened attentively and nodded, saying, "Hmm, I will accompany you home." In just half a day, he had already grown quite fond of this unique child.

Guo Shier turned around and saw Pu Er standing timidly to one side. He couldn't help but ask, "Young Master Shier? Uncle Pu, what is the matter with you?"
