Chapter 005: The Harm of Sorcery
Before his time travel, Fu Shuo was already obsessed with Taoist practices and had practiced some martial arts, although he was not particularly skilled. He had never trained in swordsmanship, merely wielding the sword as if it were a knife, lacking finesse. The demon's form was elusive, and naturally, Fu Shuo's strike missed. Startled, Fu Shuo attempted to thrust the sword again, only to see the demon suddenly shrink, trying to slip through the crack of the door.
This, this..." Fu Mingyu stared in astonishment, but he suddenly reacted and shouted: "It was that fortune teller, it was that fortune teller who did this!"
The demon was as tall as a house, and naturally, the bow and arrow it used were extremely large. When an arrow was shot, it seemed as if a long spear had been launched by an enormous crossbow powered by eight oxen. Fu fell to the ground, pulling Fu Mingyu along with him, causing her to stumble and fall as well
"We cannot stay in this house; let us go out and fight it!" Fu shouted, pulling Fu Mingyu along as the two of them jumped out through the open door. Just as they emerged, a loud rumble echoed, and the house they had just vacated collapsed. Had they remained inside, they would surely have been buried alive at that moment
After a short while, the window suddenly made a noise, and a large, pitch-black, terrifying ghost jumped in. Before it even landed, it let out a roar, and a long sword had already struck its head. With a flash of golden light, the ghost fell to the ground with a thud, struggling to get back up. Fu Shuo was still worried that the ghost was not dead, so he went up and delivered a few more sword strikes. Fu Mingyu also picked up the wooden stick in his hand and began to strike wildly, as if he wanted to smash the ghost into a pulp.
"Nonsense, you are my son, how can I let you take risks!" Fu Mingyu said as he searched the room for a while and found a handy wooden stick. The father and son then sat and waited.
In the courtyard, there stood a creature nearly as tall as the house, completely unclothed, its body covered in intertwined black muscles that seemed to radiate strength. Its eyes emitted a yellow light, resembling light bulbs. It held a bow in one hand and had arrows slung at its waist, drawing the bow and preparing to shoot an arrow.
The monster roared, and the entire room began to shake violently, as if it were experiencing an earthquake, and in the next moment, the house seemed on the verge of collapsing
The third arrival is surely going to be extraordinary! The first was a paper figure, the second was a clay statue, so what will the third be? Fu felt anxious in his heart, but he did not share this with his father
Since this world has these, there must certainly be souls and the underworld, and I hope that death is not the end of everything
Father, enough!" Fu said as he quickly grabbed Fu Mingyu, and looking at the ground, it was clear that a clay sculpture had been smashed to pieces by the two of them.
I am fine, thanks to your life-saving help!" Fu quickly calmed his heart and helped the still-frightened Fu Mingyu to his feet. Looking at Huangfu Ming again, he still wore that calm and composed expression, as if dealing with that monster had been effortless, not even a hair out of place: "My home is not far away, and I happened to hear the commotion, so I came out to take a look. I never expected that it would be you, sir, who was in danger!"
What is going on? Fu Mingyu was so frightened just now that he did not dare to move. At this moment, seeing such a scene before him, he could not help but be greatly alarmed.
Such a formidable monster is not something that they, a father and son, can contend with. Fu Shuo closed his eyes, awaiting death, yet his heart was filled with deep reluctance. Had he finally traversed to this world, only to perish before he could witness the splendor of its magical arts? He yearned to fight back with all his might; even if he were to die, he wanted to leave some mark on that monster. However, Fu Mingyu held him so tightly that he could not bear to struggle, nor could he even attempt to do so. Indeed, that was a father's love, as solid as a mountain
As the monster once again drew its bow and nocked an arrow, Fu Mingyu suddenly made a startling move, flipping over to press down on Fu Shuo, intending to shield him from the arrow! Fu Shuo felt a surge of warmth in his heart, not expecting that this adoptive father of his would treat him so well. Unfortunately, given the force of the arrows shot by the monster, even with a person in between, they could still pierce through like a sugar-coated hawthorn. There was no need to fight over it; let this father of his exert his utmost effort, making the journey to the underworld a little more reassuring.
The monster shot an arrow, the fierce wind howled, piercing through layers of air. The arrow had not yet reached its target, but the aura of death had already sent chills down the spine of He Tushu Fu.
"Do not harm my master!" A loud shout echoed, and Fu said, who was originally about to close his eyes and await death, suddenly opened his eyes wide. The arrows flying in mid-air seemed to be bound by some strange force, frozen in the air, and after a long while, they fell to the ground with a clatter. Then, a person flew in from outside, lightly stepped on the monster's head, and flipped down to the ground. The monster let out a thunderous sound, shattering into pieces and scattering everywhere. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a puppet, but now it had already been broken into four or five pieces.
"I am ashamed, I am ashamed, today I was almost harmed by a wicked person!" Fu quickly calmed down and recounted the entire sequence of events.
Fu remained silent and said: "Father, you should hide first. I estimate that something will happen shortly. Come!"
As a result, Fu's courage grew stronger, and his sword struck faster. With a horizontal sweep, a faint golden light emanated from the sword, surprisingly cleaving the little figure in two. A gust of night wind blew, and the little figure floated away, revealing that it was actually a paper figure, now cut in half.
The arrow shot through the air, passing over the heads of the father and son, with a sharp "thud" it embedded itself into the courtyard wall, the arrowhead measuring over one meter long, buried halfway into the wall. If it were flesh and blood, how could they possibly survive? Even two people would surely be pierced through!
"It has arrived." Fu Shuo heard a commotion outside, and a massive shadow filled the entire window, dark and oppressive, as if it were about to crush the whole house. The sound of breathing was incredibly loud, almost like a bellows. One could only imagine how enormous a monster it was; if Fu Shuo had not been clear-headed, he would surely have been terrified, thinking it was some sort of dark magic employed by the diviner, which would have completely extinguished his fighting spirit.
Fu did not speak; he had already thought of it when he saw the paper figure. It must be that fortune teller, who, in order to promote the efficacy of his fortune-telling skills, has created so many incidents! The current issue is that this fortune teller must, by all means, ensure the death of Fu Mingyu. Otherwise, it would be a minor matter if his fortune-telling proves ineffective. If news spreads that he has harmed others with evil sorcery, not only would no one dare to seek his services, but the authorities would also arrest him, charging him with the crime of using witchcraft to harm people. Hearing this, Huangfu Ming raised his sword-like eyebrows and coldly laughed twice, saying: "That demon dares to use evil sorcery to harm the esteemed sir; he must not be allowed to escape. Let us go find him!"
"Sir, are you alright?" The person who arrived was Huangfu Ming
