Chapter 2, The First Eye

Now, it is time to proceed to the next new location

It must be more cautious, as Lin's will is generated by the entire cell population

Excitement? Lin discovered that there was a new word in her thoughts, what does this represent

Lin observed the four cells surrounding her, and together with the cell that possesses 'eyes', there are a total of five.

Yet it also learned a lesson: this world is not only filled with soft, fluffy foods and peculiar objects that grant sight, but also contains terrifying things that can lead to one's own destruction

The cells of the eye, Lin intends to give them a special name

As a multitude of black spiky balls came rushing towards her, countless thoughts flashed through Lin's mind

But it has no eyes, and Lin is unable to receive any images from this newly split cell

This white object feels soft and fluffy to the touch, and its size is only one-fifth that of Lin's cells. It feels exactly the same as the food consumed earlier. Was it this thing that I had been eating all along?

Lin requires more detailed information and more comprehensive images so that she can see everything

The spines seem unable to move independently; they can only act upon contact with the cells, thus they cannot catch up with Lin's cells

However, Lin did not understand the significance of this; she could not perceive anything special about this small crystal, nor was it an eye, as it could not see anything.

Blue ... . ... The first color Lin saw, and then it saw several spherical objects floating in this expanse of blue

Because it has eyes, it quickly discovered more white round food. Before long, Lin's eye cells had collected enough division energy

Without hesitation, Lin allowed the cells with eyes to consume it

In Lin's thoughts, there was no longer a realm of light or darkness; slowly, blurred images began to emerge. At first, they were merely very murky colors, but as time passed, this murkiness gradually started to become clearer.

Lin brought a cell close to the object, then opened the cell membrane and engulfed it.

Just like before, Lin should acquire a new term to correspond to the new situation

Just as Lin was thinking this, the cell that had consumed the hard object trembled slightly, and more tendrils used for connection extended from within the cell nucleus

Subsequently, the cell nucleus also shrank like the outer cell membrane, and Lin lost the sensation of pain. At the same time, she lost her connection with this cell; she could no longer feel it, nor could she control it

However, it seems that it is not yet over. The dead cell suddenly expanded again and then burst violently, releasing a large number of the black spiky spheres that had caused Lin's cells to shrink and die.

Thus, Lin set out once again in search of food

That object suddenly appeared above the observer cell, looking peculiar, dark, and round, approximately one-thirtieth the size of Lin's cell, yet covered with sharp, spiky protrusions.

Initially, Lin did not feel anything particularly special; this object was gently swaying within the cell membrane but had not been digested.

The surface of this cell's membrane seems to have a small area that reflects a bright, white light, giving it a particularly special feeling

Is that... my cells?

But unfortunately, it seems that due to the loss of cells, Lin did not acquire new words

A feeling that had never been experienced before entered Lin's thoughts

Thus, it continued to take action, realizing that in order to acquire more knowledge, it must expand its community

While devouring and dividing, Lin increasingly expanded her cellular community. Lin discovered that as the number of cells increased, her thoughts became broader, and the vocabulary she knew also grew more extensive

The number of cells has reached 15, and the surrounding food has been nearly exhausted

Lin was unable to see herself; she realized that the perspective within her thoughts was still singular. The cells that had divided from her eye cells were right before her eyes

Lin did not understand, but it discovered that the cells divided from the eye cells were somewhat different from other cells

Lin positions herself at the center of the group of observers, while the surrounding cells form a circle, facilitating the immediate consumption of any food that comes close.

Lin saw the light, but what it beheld was only the light; this merely replaced the previous darkness with brightness, devoid of any significance

Just as Lin was thinking this, she suddenly saw something special

The observer uses vision to locate food, which is much more convenient than before when contact was necessary to identify the location of food. It merely requires a glance to discover the locations of all the food in the vicinity, and then other cells, under Lin's command, proceed to engulf that food

She felt the cells with eyes beginning to split in two, and Lin felt a bit excited, as this way she would be able to see what her own eyes looked like

Lin felt this sensation for the first time, yet she did not find it interesting at all; instead, she wanted to avoid it

Indeed, it is this term; a small area on the surface of this newly split cell membrane has crystallized

As long as there are cells, consciousness will also exist

Lin kept running until she could no longer see any of the black thorn balls

After confirming that it was safe, Lin began to recall the situation from earlier

There are currently six cells, and Lin is directing them to swim forward, continuing to search for more food

In Lin's thoughts, a three-character word appeared for the first time, which was used as a name.
