Chapter 1, The Idiot
Unfortunately, the term "genius" lost its luster above his head in less than six months... because he could not speak
Because he neither cries nor shouts, and he never needs adults to coax him. His daily routine is more regular than that of an adult; he wakes up at the appointed time, opens his mouth to eat at the appointed time, and goes to sleep at the appointed time. ... However, apart from opening his mouth to eat, this child hardly makes any sound; the only thing he does every day is to stare blankly ... . ... He stares blankly with a pair of eyes. Yet, apart from opening his mouth to eat, this child hardly makes any sound; the only thing he does every day is to stare blankly ... . ... He stares blankly with a pair of eyes.
Three years ago, when Du Wei emerged from the Countess's womb into this world, he startled the maids who were responsible for his delivery.
Afterwards, when the Countess visited her son every day, she noticed that the child's previously expressionless gaze had gained a hint of warmth when it turned towards her
Just such a small child, neither crying nor laughing, and unable to speak, spends the whole day in a daze. Apart from being an idiot, there really is no other explanation.
More than a month ago, a sudden storm broke out, with thunder and lightning filling the sky, and rain pouring down like a torrential downpour. It is said that even the Grand Canal outside the capital nearly overflowed, while a significant event occurred at the Earl of He-Tu-Shu's residence.
Fortunately, young Master Du Wei, who is three years old, has learned to walk. Although he still wobbles, there is not much difference in this regard compared to children of the same age
On the second day, the child's body finally warmed up, and a small life was saved. However, he remained in a coma for another day and night. During this time, the Countess almost did not eat or sleep, holding her son tightly. By the second day, the Countess's delicate features had become greatly haggard. Suddenly, young Master Du Wei, still in his dreams, began to speak. With his eyes closed, he uttered a few syllables as if in a delirium. However, everyone listened for a long time without understanding the meaning of his words. It seemed that this foolish young master had not yet learned to speak, and what he said were merely the meaningless babblings of an infant.
However, in his dreams, Du Wei was unaware that in a moment of anger, he had rushed outside to shout at the heavens, got drenched in the rain, and nearly lost his life. He was even more oblivious to the fact that simply because he had muttered a couple of "damn it" while unconscious, someone else had greatly benefited from it.
Subsequently, the Count's residence was searched thoroughly, but a stable hand named Mard was found in the horse stable, and he was immediately summoned before the lady
Young Master Du Wei has been ill for a full month, and his originally frail body has become even weaker. After a whole month, a hint of color has finally returned to his small face.
In fact, when Du Wei Loring was just born, no one dared to call him an idiot; in fact, he was once considered very likely to be the genius of the Loring family
The Countess, who rushed over upon hearing the news, fainted at the sight. The servants in the manor hurriedly carried both the young master and the lady into the room. The lady soon regained consciousness and wept bitterly while holding her unconscious son. The summoned physician, flustered and exhausted, worked for half a day, administering various medications. Additionally, two magicians were invited to cast light healing spells on the son for a considerable time.
Madden was overjoyed at that moment; he suddenly leaped from being the lowest-ranking stable hand to becoming a close attendant of the young master in the count's household. It seemed as if a bright future was already beckoning to him!
Young Master Du Wei of m.hetushu.com, taking advantage of his maid's inattention, unexpectedly crawled out of the room and stood foolishly in the courtyard in the rain, looking up at the sky. Amidst the flashes of lightning and the rumble of thunder, this child seemed to show no fear at all—perhaps a fool, who simply does not understand what fear means.
As the child's body grew increasingly cold, the Countess, seemingly driven to madness, rushed to the Temple of the Goddess of Light in the capital. She summoned a priest in black robes, who personally performed the blessing of the goddess on the child, while the Countess knelt before the statue of the goddess in the temple for an entire night, continuously praying for her son.
Children of his age, at this stage, are already able to babble or produce simple sounds, such as "dad," "mom," "pee," and so on. However, it seems that Master Du Wei's mouth has been sealed by a spell from a superlative magician; despite the Countess's tireless efforts to teach him to speak, he cannot utter even a single note.
However, as always, this young master remained silent. Ever since he woke up, he has not uttered a single note from his lips. Even the servant named "Mard" whom he had "designated" in his dreams received no favorable treatment from him; each day was spent in a daze. The only difference was that when the maid beside him occasionally mentioned her serious illness, the Countess had once held her for two days and two nights without rest, and had even knelt before the statue of the goddess for an entire night.
Even a naturally mute person can at least hum a few notes, yet this young master remains as silent as a stone. Whether he is cold, hot, hungry, or needs to relieve himself, he only rings a bell.
He even had very few records of bedwetting. This was because he learned to gently shake the bell beside his cradle; over time, whenever the sound of the bell rang from Master Du Wei's cradle, the maid would immediately rush to bring him the chamber pot. Such actions led the entire family to unanimously praise this young master for being so clever from a young age, believing that he would surely become a genius of the Rowling family in the future
My son calls your names even in his dreams... Mad... Although I do not know why he calls your name, I suppose this is a divine sign from the Goddess of Light. May the goddess bless you. From today onwards, you no longer need to feed the horses; instead, attend to the young master and the books.
He instead clenched his two small fists and suddenly shouted loudly at the heavens!
After a long period of exchanging glances, one bold individual finally spoke up, bowing slightly and saying: "Madam, it seems that among those responsible for the young master's daily care, there is no one named Mard..."
The young master, who had not spoken for three years, stood in the rain, shouting madly at the flashes of lightning. He allowed the rain to drench his small body, and by the time the servants noticed, he looked as if he had been pulled from the water, shivering all over, his face pale, and his lips bitten to a purplish hue
By the time he turned three, the young master had yet to utter a word. The Countess had invited numerous skilled physicians and even a few renowned magicians to determine whether her son was under some magical curse, but all efforts proved fruitless. In the end, even the most optimistic Countess could not help but sigh in sorrow, realizing that her son seemed to be an imbecile
The Countess, overwhelmed with joy, wept as she leaned beside the child, listening for a while, and finally began to discern some clues. Turning to the group of servants, who were silent as if frozen in fear, she quietly asked, "Among the servants who usually take care of the young master, is there one named Mard?"
