Chapter Four: Summoning Spirits and Dispatching Generals

Dark Small Medium Large Original Scroll to Bottom

He shook his large head, secretly thinking that he was being a bit paranoid, and decided not to dwell on it any longer. Hatred had gradually filled his heart, and at this moment, all he wanted was to thoroughly torture Lu Yu. Of course, afterward, he would also deal with that indecisive little second, whom he had no intention of letting go.

At this moment, he still has breath, but his body, devoid of a soul, has long since become a vegetative state

The guardian deities cultivated in this manner are characterized by their uprightness and tranquility, possessing the ability to subdue evil and exorcise demons, and can be considered exceptional even within the realm of unorthodox practices

What Lu Yu did not know was that this Taoist had limited talent and lost interest in whatever he learned after three days. How could he calm his mind to carefully study the mysteries within the book? Only the method of quick mastery recorded in the text truly captivated him. After devising a way to kill a traveler, he captured the soul of that person and thus considered himself a practitioner of the art.

It turns out that this Taoist had somehow obtained a book of cultivation notes, which recorded some unorthodox techniques, such as the method of invisibility used by the Taoist when fleeing, as well as the method of nurturing ghosts with a black wooden tablet, all clearly documented. Even more commendable is that the Taoist also recorded his own insights on cultivation alongside.

As soon as the soul appeared, it immediately floated onto the ghostly entity, which suddenly became more animated after being somewhat dull.

The ghostly entity had no physical form, and passing through walls was as effortless for it as drinking water. Upon entering the room, it saw Lu Yu lying on the bed, sound asleep.

What many do not know is that the child who was rescued in the beginning was actually the young master of the county magistrate's family

"Guest, you mentioned that the demon was thwarted in its plans by us, how could it possibly let the two of us off easily? That fellow is quite cunning, and I have no idea what wicked sorcery he might employ to endanger our lives. I haven't even married yet!" The waiter, seeing Lu Yu's calm demeanor, felt a surge of anger; it seemed this individual still had not realized the gravity of the situation. He inwardly resented himself for meddling in affairs that did not concern him.

Looking at Lu Yu, who was sound asleep in front of him, the Taoist's anger intensified, feeling like a rat crossing the street, while this fellow was actually sleeping so soundly here

As someone who is accustomed to the ways of the world, how could he not realize that he seemed to have encountered a tough opponent, and he had already harbored thoughts of retreat in his heart

This technique is originally a method for summoning and training protective deities. After capturing the spirits, one must use secret methods to create incense for nourishing the spirit, thereby enhancing the power of the protective deity through the strength of the incense.

"To be able to die at the hands of my ghost general is indeed this brat's fortune." He gazed fervently at the ebony token in his hand. He had not used this method many times, but its power was extraordinary, allowing him to indulge in a perverse sense of pleasure each time. The feeling of easily manipulating the lives and deaths of others was addictive to him

However, just as the ghostly claw was about to touch Lu Yu's body, the Taoist was horrified to discover that the scholar, whom he had originally regarded as prey, suddenly opened his eyes and was observing him with great interest. In those eyes, there was excitement, intrigue, and curiosity, but there was no fear whatsoever.

Parting the long waist-high weeds, I walked into the dilapidated temple. A person dressed in a Taoist robe lay quietly on the ground; it was indeed the sorcerer.

I have heard that our county magistrate has had a child in his old age, and he dotes on this child immensely

I said, "Xiao Er Ge, what do you mean by that expression of yours, as if you have lost your parents?" The only thing that displeased Lu Yu was Xiao Er's face, which was filled with a look of suppressed anguish

Lu Yu sighed at the short-sightedness of the Taoist while continuing to browse through the books. He discovered that the latter part contained only records of talisman creation and various experiences in cultivation. He deeply felt that the author of this book was indeed a passionate senior. The Taoist, having learned only a superficial understanding, was eager to show off, which was truly a case of entering a treasure mountain empty-handed.

He had finally managed to connect with the Blood God Cult after much difficulty, painstakingly gathering so many children with great effort. He was preparing to take them to the headquarters of the Blood God Cult, filled with hopes that the generous leader would impart divine teachings, allowing him to enjoy a life of luxury and longevity.

Those who originally went out to join the commotion have gradually returned to their respective places. This scene is ultimately just a fleeting moment in their lives, and in the future, it will merely serve as an additional topic of conversation.

The dilapidated temple is situated in an inconspicuous corner, surrounded by a desolate wasteland, to the extent that even the beggars in the city are unwilling to seek refuge here. Lu Yu couldn't help but sigh, acknowledging that the Taoist truly had a knack for choosing locations.

It is a pity that if this possession lasts too long, it will harm my soul; otherwise, transforming into such a ghost king, there would be no place in this vast world that I could not go to, " the Taoist said with a hint of regret.

The Taoist surveyed the ghostly entity he had summoned with great satisfaction, feeling extremely pleased with its appearance. He uttered the phrase "merge with me," and the ghostly being extended its spectral claws, reaching for the top of the Taoist's head. In an instant, a translucent version of the Taoist was pulled out from his body by the ghost, revealing his very soul.

Lu Yu's words had no effect whatsoever, instead making the waiter’s face look even more like a bitter melon

In a dilapidated temple in the northern part of the city, a Daoist priest with a horse-like face gazes at the sky outside with a look of hatred. A large mole on his face becomes increasingly prominent, revealing him to be the demon who escaped during the day.

Extending his thick ghostly claws, the Taoist prepared to first capture Lu Yu's soul, and then slowly refine it.

This feels really good! The ghostly entity emitted an unpleasant sound, which upon closer inspection turned out to be the tone of that Taoist priest.

But who would have thought that in the small city of Wan, a meddlesome scholar would ruin a good deed? Just thinking of the methods of that omnipotent master made him shiver involuntarily, and his hatred for Lu Yu deepened in his heart

Lu Yu rested for a while in his guest room and set down his travel bag. He then slowly walked towards the inn's lobby, preparing to order something to offer to his internal organs.

"What a meddlesome scholar, causing me to lose this batch of goods. I will make you pay for this," the Taoist muttered resentfully to himself

Gently reciting the incantation, before long, a fearsome ghost with a green face and sharp fangs emerged majestically from the ebony plaque. The malevolent spirit was exceedingly ugly, with a pair of protruding teeth exposed, sparse red hair growing only on either side of its head, and a pointed, shiny scalp. Its two bulbous eyes glimmered with a fierce light.

The Taoist's mind had already flashed through various thoughts, and he was prepared to enjoy the expression of the detestable scholar as he was tormented. Upon thinking of this, his ugly ghostly face was filled with excitement

A piercing pain surged through the body of the ghost and reached the soul of the Taoist priest, in an instant, the priest felt as if he were being subjected to a thousand cuts and a myriad of tortures

In the quiet city of Wan at night, the moon shines brightly amidst the sparse stars. In this ancient time, lacking in entertainment activities, people have long since drifted into slumber, with only the night watchman rhythmically striking his clapper in the streets, informing the populace of the current hour.

After saying this, he transformed into a wisp of blue smoke and swiftly floated towards the Tongfu Inn, arriving at the entrance in no time. The Taoist had already collected Lu Yu's aura, and with a gentle sniff through the ghostly body, he discovered Lu Yu's location. However, for some reason, deep within his heart, there seemed to be a slight resistance, and he did not want to approach Lu Yu's location at all

Before he could even feel the pain, the Taoist's soul had already been shattered into pieces by the flying sword, leaving no chance for reincarnation

Unfortunately, the Taoist is reluctant to part with wealth and finds this legitimate method too slow in yielding results. Therefore, he chooses to practice through human blood sacrifice, transforming a once benevolent guardian spirit into a malevolent ghost

Haha, I thought it was something serious. Don't worry, if this matter is discussed, I am the mastermind, and you can only be considered an accomplice at most. I am not anxious, so why should you be? Even if that sorcerer seeks revenge, they should come to find me first

The Taoist had a keen eye and immediately identified the most valuable techniques in this book, but unfortunately, he was eager for quick results and chose a shortcut method.

Following the guidance of the flying sword, Lu Yu traveled north for half a day and finally arrived at the entrance of the dilapidated temple where the Taoist was hiding

"Sword Immortal, Flying Sword!" The Taoist left behind these few words before completely vanishing from the world, taking with him the sins of his entire life

Lu Yu was not polite at all; he went up to check what good things the Taoist was hiding. He knew that people like the Taoist would not trust anyone, and all valuable items would inevitably be on his person

At that moment, a beam of sword light shone from Lu Yu's bosom. In the eyes of the ghostly beings, this sword light was so pure and so bright, akin to the sunlight during the hottest days of summer.

As Lu Yu had anticipated, a considerable amount of silver was found on the Taoist, in addition to a book and a blackwood plaque

The next day, while the people at Tongfu Inn were discussing the strange screams from the night before, Lu Yu had already packed his belongings and left the place under the curious gaze of the waiter.

After a long while, Lu Yu let out a long sigh, rubbed his swollen forehead, and couldn't help but feel relieved, saying: "It seems that this Taoist has not had this book for very long; otherwise, once he masters the skills within, he would be difficult to deal with."

This Taoist is truly a remarkable person in my eyes; not only did he give me the opportunity to test the power of the flying sword, but he also presented me with this great gift. Lu Yu, without shying away from the fact that a person in a vegetative state lies beside him, eagerly picked up a book to examine it closely

Hmph! If you dare to ruin my good deeds, then do not blame me for being ruthless!" The Taoist muttered to himself and then took out a black wooden talisman from his bosom

Upon opening the book, Lu Yu could not help but exclaim with great joy: "It is truly the case that when one is drowsy, someone brings a pillow; this is indeed a good thing"

Oh! Where did this misfortune come from when everything was going well? How can you, a young person, have such a pessimistic mindset

Lu Yu was eating light dishes while listening to the continuous discussions of the people around him. For the first time, he felt that he was truly living in another world, neither dreaming nor playing a game

This sorcerer is likely in trouble! There are those well-informed individuals who flaunt their knowledge in front of others, inciting the crowd to clamor for him to share that exclusive information with everyone

Who can say otherwise? The official who went to the governor's office recognized the young master at a glance. When the news reached the governor's office, our esteemed lord became furious and issued a maritime capture order, offering a reward of 100 taels, with no regard for life or death

"Oh dear, what a calamity!" However, the waiter was not in such good spirits; ever since he learned that the sorcerer had escaped the encirclement of the crowd, he had been feeling anxious and uneasy.

When he finally regained his senses from the pain, he discovered that a small green sword had already pierced beside him. His once proud Ghost King body seemed as fragile as paper under such a small sword, instantly disintegrating into nothingness.
