Chapter 2: Strange Creatures
The S601 train they were on was struck head-on by another train, resulting in severe damage to the S601 train; however, the train that was hit remained completely unscathed
The owners of these green glowing eyes leaped out from the darkness, crossing over the piles of spore rocks, and revealed themselves to be a group of beasts as large as lions and tigers, with a single horn on their foreheads and skin resembling that of rocks
Lin Xiao covered his nose with his sleeve, lowered his head, and saw that the ground was strewn with bodies in disarray.
If there are still passengers trapped inside who have not escaped, they will be immediately engulfed by the flames
The passengers who had climbed out of the train, after a brief moment of silence, finally came to their senses and began searching for their companions. Others were busy taking out their phones to call for help, but soon everyone realized that there was not a trace of signal in this area, and they could not even reach the emergency number 112.
These unknown ferocious beasts emerged from the distant darkness, charging in groups towards the crowd. Lin Xiao took a distant glance, gasping in shock; at a glance, their numbers were at least several hundred.
In the blink of an eye, at least more than ten lives have been lost at the hands of these unknown ferocious beasts.
"Lin Xiao, let's hurry and hide up there," Shi Lei pulled Lin Xiao and squeezed through the crowd towards the black train.
Lin Xiao approached and instantly understood the reason for everyone's astonishment
"It's too much, run away!" someone shouted frantically while fleeing
There are also some human corpses, with their throats bitten open or their chests torn apart, as if they had died under the claws of a large ferocious beast
It is unimaginable what the passengers inside have been compressed into by the force of the impact
In addition to these human corpses, there were also some animal carcasses that Lin Xiao had never encountered before, mixed in with the books.
What the hell is this dust? It feels terrible to breathe in—" Fang Zhirong coughed while covering his nose and mouth.
This train, which was struck in the middle yet remains completely unscathed, is entirely black, devoid of any markings. The doors are wide open, and it is empty inside, quietly standing here, exuding an indescribable eeriness
Lin Xiao looked up at the sky, which was dark and overcast. Surrounding him were piles of rocks formed by spores, and further away lay a mass of darkness. Many people, after climbing out of the train, gathered towards the front of the train, as if something there had captured their attention
The door is too narrow, allowing only one beast to pounce at a time. The crowd stands at the entrance, effectively blocking these beasts, which have attempted to charge several times but are unable to break through.
In the crowd, someone was shouting loudly while rushing towards the completely black train that was quietly parked here with its doors open, and then dashed inside through the opened door.
On the ground, neither the railway tracks nor the roads are visible, all covered by a thick accumulation of spores, making it feel as though one is walking through deep snow.
Hurry and get in the car, we are blocking the door, hurry up
The air was filled with fine spores resembling dust. Lin Xiao took a deep breath and suddenly felt a sharp, needle-like pain in his nostrils, which triggered a violent cough. Then, from his nostrils down to his throat, it felt as if he had eaten something extremely spicy.
The air is filled with the intense sound of coughing all around, as these minute spores, akin to dust, are inhaled by individuals, immediately triggering a cough.
Lin Xiao had never seen a beast like the one in the picture book. Covering his nose with his sleeve, after a fit of violent coughing, the burning sensation in his nostrils and throat gradually eased, and he had come to understand what had happened
Outside, ferocious beasts continuously emitted tremendous roars, striking the carriage with their claws. Although the blows resounded with a "bang bang," the black carriage remained completely unscathed
These corpses are mostly those of the passengers. A portion of them were thrown out from the train's body through the cracks during the accident when the train broke apart. Most of these bodies are shattered and mangled, making it nearly impossible to discern any complete form.
Lin Xiao covered his nose with his sleeve to breathe. Although this could reduce the concentration of dust in the air he inhaled, it could not completely isolate him from the spores and dust in the air. With each breath he took, he felt a wave of heat and dryness in his nose and throat.
Lin Xiao, Shi Lei, and Fang Zhirong, among others, were also in the chaotic crowd. Lin Xiao, with his keen eyesight, noticed that in just a short period, these unknown ferocious beasts had appeared all around in the darkness.
We are surrounded here as well
Suddenly, there was a deafening explosion, causing everyone to turn in shock. It was then that they saw one of the carriages of the S601 train, which had broken into three sections and was leaning on the ground, suddenly erupting in a massive explosion. A blinding fireball shot out, illuminating the surroundings. This train, which had been split into three parts, unexpectedly caught fire without any warning.
This train encountered an accident and, inexplicably, crashed into this previously unseen pile of spore rocks. The tremendous noise attracted a group of unknown strange beasts, and the passengers who crawled out from the crevices were subjected to attacks from these creatures
At the company www.hetushu.com, he is notoriously timid and fearful, even less so than girls, and often becomes the subject of ridicule. Now, he is trembling all over in fear.
What is going on? What has happened again
The front of the vehicle and the carriage have almost completely collapsed inward, the steel carriage resembling crumpled paper, with those outside unable to see the passengers inside, only able to witness the blood gushing out.
Lin Xiao! A man's voice called out from not far away. Lin Xiao looked over and saw the short and stout Fang Zhirong and the thin and dark Shi Lei walking towards him.
Lin Xiao, Shi Lei, and Fang Zhirong followed behind the crowd, moving forward along the train cars that had broken into three sections. When they turned past a half-carriage that was lying horizontally, they noticed that, aside from their train that had encountered an accident, there was another train stopped on the other side
The black train was completely surrounded by these unknown beasts outside. Thousands of passengers had either been bitten to death outside or had boarded this black train. The crowd took turns guarding all the doors, fending off the beasts that charged at them in waves.
Everyone, do not panic, do not run away, let us join forces—" Some individuals, bolder than the rest, shouted while stopping, intending to confront the fierce beasts alongside the crowd. However, upon realizing that everyone around was retreating, he found himself facing the beasts alone, which frightened him into fleeing with the others.
Beside Lin Xiao, Shi Lei was inexplicably panicked, his face filled with fear
At this moment, many people are gathering here, watching another train that is quietly stationed here, engaging in animated discussions and displaying expressions of great astonishment
A fierce beast attempted to charge forward, but all these objects from the east were thrown at it, forcing the beast to retreat with a roar
Why is the sky so dark? This place is... so strange..." Shi Lei looked around at the giant spore rock formations he had never seen before, a sense of foreboding rising in his heart as he spoke, his face revealing a hint of fear.
rumble
The S601 train, which Lin Xiao and others were on, collided violently with the side of this train. It is impossible to describe the magnitude of this impact, which caused severe damage to the locomotive and several carriages of the train that Lin Xiao and others were traveling on.
Lin Xiao remained silent, and from a distance, a second scream had already been heard, followed by someone shrieking: "Run, quickly run, there are so many—"
In the company, Shi Lei and Lin Xiao have the best relationship, so while squeezing onto the train, he did not forget to pull Lin Xiao along.
These beasts, as large as lions and tigers, possess skin with a texture resembling that of rock, completely devoid of hair. On their foreheads, there is a small stone-like horn, while their hind legs are slender and tucked beneath their bodies, nearly invisible unless observed closely. In contrast, their forelegs are exceptionally developed, robust and powerful, akin to human arms, with three sharp claws on their paws, the color of which also resembles that of rock.
However, the surroundings were filled with unknown ferocious beasts. Those passengers who could not escape in time were all bitten to death, and boarding this black train, relying on the narrow door to fend off the beasts, was clearly their only option
Although these beasts are terrifying, their numbers are limited, never exceeding ten. While they have caused significant harm to many passengers, as more and more passengers crawled out of the train, these few beasts were ultimately killed by the collective efforts of the crowd
The passengers gathered here are increasingly perplexed, each person feeling a sense of bewilderment as what appears before them has already exceeded the bounds of their common understanding.
Seeing the nearest beast charging within ten meters, Lin Xiao finally rushed towards the closest car door. By the door stood several sturdy men, some holding their backpacks, others wielding a stone they had picked up, or clutching scraps of metal, all guarding the narrow entrance.
Lin Xiao glanced at the mysteriously appearing black train, a strange feeling he could not quite articulate surged in his heart, and he felt an inexplicable sense of fear towards this black train
The situation around them grew increasingly bizarre, and the group was unable to communicate with the outside world. It had been a long time since the incident occurred, yet no rescue personnel had appeared. Panic spread in all directions, and the air was filled with fine spore dust that caused everyone to cough incessantly. Suddenly, a piercing scream echoed.
This call alerted everyone, who, with nowhere to escape, rushed into the compartments of the black train through the doors that were being opened one after another. Then, some began to attempt to see if they could close the doors of the compartments.
In the midst of the chaotic crowd that was fleeing, someone suddenly cried out in a loud voice
Thousands of passengers were encircled, defenseless individuals faced the perilous situation of being surrounded by hundreds, if not thousands, of ferocious beasts akin to lions and tigers
Fang Zhirong had a swollen, bluish bump on his forehead, clearly injured in the chaos without knowing where he had hit himself. He called out Lin Xiao's name while grimacing and coughing repeatedly.
The crowd gathered on that side began to riot, rushing towards them one after another. Then, Lin Xiao saw pairs of eyes faintly glowing with a mysterious green light in the distance.
