When the happiness that was once believed in turns into an illusion and betrayal, can a girl who believes in love and is devoted to love still regain her original purity?

The most enigmatic of puzzles, the most tumultuous of ups and downs, the most intricate of entanglements, the most profound of loves, the most desperate of thoughts, the most sorrowful of watchings

During the summer vacation at the age of seventeen, Sheng Ximan embarked on a journey to find her boyfriend, Xia Zhi, who had disappeared without a word. She traveled westward to Dunhuang, and the arduous journey caused her to fall ill, yet she still found no results. Her friend, Wei Lan, scolded her for being foolish, asserting that Xia Zhi's disappearance was intentional and urging her to give up the search, but she remained undeterred.

On one occasion, Ximan came across a poster for a personal art exhibition. The boy referred to as the "genius young painter," named Jiang Li, bore a striking resemblance to Xia Zhi.

Ximan went to the art exhibition, but was stunned by an oil painting titled "Jenny." The blonde girl in the painting had an identical face to her own. However, Ximan knew that the person in the painting was not herself, for she had a treasured painting that was exactly the same, one that had been painted for her by Summer before her disappearance a year ago

At the art exhibition, Ximan fainted from heatstroke and was saved by Nayan. Such coincidences abound in the world; Nayan turned out to be Jiang Li's uncle by marriage, and he is also the man loved by her sister Su Can, whom she met during her journey in Gannan

Fate is like a vast net, ensnaring several individuals who were originally unrelated. Are Xia Zhi and Jiang Li truly the same person, both skilled in painting? Who is the girl Jenny, who looks just like her? ... These various doubts leave Ximan feeling as if she is walking through a dense winter fog. She moves forward step by step, attempting to part the mist to glimpse the truth, only to ultimately discover that many of life's mysteries exceed her capacity to bear them
