Prologue
Those with spiritual roots can sense the primordial energy of heaven and earth. Only by possessing this can one cultivate immortality. In ancient times, when humanity first embarked on the path of cultivation, there was a lack of understanding regarding what spiritual roots were, and they were still in a phase of exploration. At that time, the cultivation world was not prosperous; the reason for this was the scarcity of those with spiritual roots, which were as rare as phoenix feathers and unicorn horns. Without this, one could not sense the spiritual energy between heaven and earth, and cultivation would be akin to seeking fish in a tree, where no matter how hard one tried, it would only be a futile effort.
With a mortal body, undertaking acts against the heavens, enduring countless tribulations and overcoming innumerable hardships, one ultimately transforms into an immortal being, transcending the three realms and no longer bound by the five elements, achieving eternal life and coexisting with the universe.
Thus, the concept of cultivating immortality came into being
Thus, there is a discussion of spiritual roots
Faced with such a predicament, the senior cultivators were naturally extremely unwilling. Is it truly the case that the desire for immortality is an act against the heavens?
However, that requires guidance
Like a ladle of cold water splashed into a hot oil pot, the various sects of immortality cultivation would naturally not give up. Countless sages persevered and continued their research, and finally, they discovered the underlying principles.
Thus, through diligent exploration, the concept of enlightenment gradually emerged
The path of immortality is arduous, and even the desire to cultivate comes with its own thresholds
However, it is rare to obtain a miraculous elixir, and having such a disciple can be said to be more of a loss than a gain
The so-called "opening of the spirit" refers to the process in which a youth (or maiden) under the age of eighteen consumes a precious elixir, after which a senior cultivator infuses a trace of their magical power into the youth's meridians. This enables the youth to manifest their spiritual roots and open their sea of consciousness, thus beginning their journey of refining qi and embarking on the arduous path of immortality.
The "Book of Seeking Immortality" records a type of cultivation method specifically for mortals. After refining it, one can condense internal breath within the body. This internal breath is distinct from the internal force of the secular martial world; it is the pure practice of Taoist energy cultivation. Although it possesses no lethal power, it has a tremendous effect on awakening the spirit.
Everyone speaks of the immortality of the divine beings, living forever in carefree joy
To become an immortal, one must cultivate; once the path is attained, one will transform into an immortal.
These two points appear to be contradictory, yet they have coexisted continuously, which can be regarded as a remarkable phenomenon in the history of the cultivation world
And this story begins here
What kind of person can truly awaken their spiritual roots
The more profound and enduring the internal breath, the better the effect of opening the spirit. As the sea of consciousness is opened, the qualities obtained from revealing the spiritual roots become increasingly exceptional
This discovery ensured that the various sects of immortals would no longer lack successors. However, the situation was not so simple. Although theoretically anyone could awaken their spiritual roots, in practice, the cultivation sects found that the probability was actually quite low. Most people could awaken their spiritual roots, but the quality of these roots was often very poor, resulting in extremely limited achievements even if they embarked on the path of cultivation.
The root cause ultimately lies in the scarcity of those who possess spiritual roots
Thus, when the major cultivation sects are in need of disciples, they can select outstanding candidates from the mortals practicing the "Seeking Immortality Manual," saving time and effort. The proportion of those with excellent spiritual roots is also far superior to that of the past, making it a situation where all parties are pleased
They painstakingly pondered and devoted countless efforts to research, later discovering that those born with spiritual roots are indeed extremely rare, one in a million. However, it is also possible for spiritual roots to manifest later in life.
In the world, there are countless mortals, whether they are nobles, officials, generals, or commoners, all fear death. Therefore, many seek immortality and inquire about the Dao. However, among ordinary mortals, those with spiritual roots are exceedingly rare, often one cannot find even a single one among a hundred thousand.
The answer is that everyone under the age of 18 is eligible
The various sects of immortals were greatly pleased, and under their promotion, they widely disseminated the "Manual of Seeking Immortality," which cannot be considered a true cultivation method, throughout the world, without any barriers to entry, allowing anyone to practice it
Thus, a ruler was created
On one hand, countless individuals aspire to cultivate immortality, while on the other hand, various sects of immortals find it difficult to receive suitable disciples, fearing the interruption of their lineage
With such a low ratio, it is naturally difficult for the cultivation sects to find disciples, as it is simply too challenging to locate their followers. After all, they cannot possibly test each mortal one by one.
In the course of history, it has been rare for one to live to the age of seventy. Since ancient times, every mortal is destined to die, regardless of how heroic, clever, or resourceful they may be, or how many wives and concubines they possess, or how immense their power may be. Ultimately, no one can escape the cycle of natural law. Even if one enjoys a longer life, after a hundred years, they too will inevitably turn into a pile of bones. Power and wealth are but fleeting illusions.
Thus, the "Book of Seeking Immortality" was published
