Chapter 3, Snow Kill (3)

Dark Small Medium Large Original Scroll to Bottom

The focus of the Lanxi Book is in the carriage

A wine pouch was tossed back and forth between the two Imperial Guards at the front, while the little tune played, and the wine was sipped, creating a lively and indulgent atmosphere.

The person riding the five-flower horse in the south kicked the horse forward to intercept the wine pouch, grumbling and cursing incessantly.

Soon! Three zhang of land! Two zhang of land! One zhang of land!

Lan Xi picked up the neglected crossbow beside him, the cold, steel-like texture igniting an uncontrollable excitement within him

Lan Xishu let out a long sigh, stabilizing his stance with his feet crossed.

The sound of laughter and music mingled in the carriage, and from behind the tightly drawn velvet curtains came a voice: "Dog Liu'er! Steady the carriage, you little rabbit!"

Lan Xi repeatedly filtered through the details of the plan

Lan Xi looked down at the seven companions on the mountain, contemplating which one would be the most time-efficient to start with

The pipa player was not sufficiently dedicated and stopped at that moment

Lan Xishu always thought that Chen Wufu would be surrounded by thirty to fifty people whenever he went out

It should be words of anger spoken in an angry tone, yet when they come from Lan Xishu's mouth, they are delivered with an air of calmness. This evokes a different kind of excitement that sends a thrill throughout Lan Xishu's entire being. He possesses an innate bloodlust for battle, and even the slightest provocation ignites an inexplicable excitement within him

The tall, dark figure beside Chen Wufu's carriage was straining to hunch over, making an effort to angle himself as he greedily peered through the gaps in the swaying curtain of the carriage. Perhaps due to his own instability combined with the varying speed of the carriage, he could not see the situation inside clearly. This dark figure, somewhat impatient, stretched his neck forward, hunched his back, and strained to look, his lewd expression was truly repulsive

Seven! Hu Dage glanced at Lan Xishu and reported the count: "Not including those in the car!"

The palm of Lan Xi's hand was slightly damp

As long as Chen Wufu arrives right under his nose, eliminating these few captains with lightning speed will not cause much of a stir. The brothers have long understood the true capabilities of the incompetent Chen Wufu; apart from his notorious prowess in bed, there is nothing else worth considering.

This greatly surprised Lan Xishu, as he did not expect Chen Wufu to be so low-key

Puff puff

I said! San Shao! That kid Chen Wufu is following Xu Niang Bu Lao around like a sycophant!" Jing Mao'an chuckled, while Hu Dage was indeed practical, counting little by little with his big head.

One, two, three, four ? ? ? . ? ? A cart appeared, and although its grandeur was far inferior to that of Xu Sanyuan, in the eyes of Hu Dage, it was still quite impressive.

What is happening? The military officer at the front was already raising the wine pouch, while Lan Xishu had reached the rocky area. Huo rose to his feet, and the moment his toes touched the first wolf-tooth stone, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh! The crossbow bolts were fired in quick succession, hitting the target.

The loosely arranged, slow-moving procession was indeed accompanied by seven attendants, all of whom appeared to be rather mediocre. A qualified officer of the Jinyiwei, regardless of their location, carries an unmistakable air of alertness and acuity, a deeply ingrained professional instinct, as exemplified by these individuals from Wild Fox Ridge

Lan Xi leapt up at the same time, wrapped in a cloak, rolling down the gentle slope like a snowball, stirring up a flurry of snowflakes, coming on swiftly and unexpectedly

All the plans flowed through his mind like a stream, as Lan Xishu turned his neck to look westward. Xu Sanyuan's large troop had already wound around the western foot of Yehu Ridge like colorful ribbons, and the flags, swaying like reeds, completely disappeared behind the mountain, with the sound of chaotic hooves fading away.

Lan Xishu observed once more the gentle slope hidden beneath the waist of the Wild Fox Ridge, where several jagged stones lay. Although covered by snow, their ruggedness remained evident. Lan Xishu estimated that this small area of rubble would likely affect his speed as he descended the Wild Fox Ridge, warranting particular caution.

A startled horse, with its mane raised high, gallops away, dragging its master who has an arrow lodged in his throat; the bloodstains, dark and heavy, trail far behind before finally falling off.

The sound of the pipa rises again, interrupted somewhat by human disturbances. The itchiness of the large black figure is evident in its drooling smile, which persists despite the warning of a whip from the coachman.

The individual whom Lan Xi Shu regarded with great importance was wrapped tightly in a dark red fur coat, obscuring their features. However, the small head within the fur hat was alertly turning this way and that, much like a vigilant book.

A chestnut horse broke free from the entanglement of Jing Mao'an and Hu Dage's siege, charging forward.

Lan Xi stepped on the horse's hindquarters, while the attendant grabbed the reins to control the horse

Whoosh! The crossbow bolts whizzed through the air, and the unexpected guest on the chestnut horse deftly turned in the saddle, allowing the arrows to pass by effortlessly as the cloak swirled around.

In one swift motion, Lan Xishu shot two arrows into the tall target behind the carriage. The galloping horses rushed forward, and not a single scream was heard. Each arrow struck true, silencing the targets in an instant. In the blink of an eye, the barrage was complete. Lan Xishu then leaped onto the carriage, kicking the dead lieutenant driving the carriage off.

As long as he charges onto the carriage, Lan Xishu is confident that there will be no further suspense behind him

You notice the ageless woman in front! Lan Xishu instructed Ding Ya, and Ding Ya responded with a sound of acknowledgment

Quick! Accurate! Ruthless!

Understanding the effective range and lethality of the repeating crossbow is crucial; if the shot is too early, the hit rate is difficult to guarantee, and if it is too late, it becomes problematic once the opponent reacts

According to Lan Xi's estimation, while such a distance may not be absolutely secure, as long as one acts swiftly enough, it can be done without anyone noticing.

That guy turned his neck towards the fixed position of Lan Xi Shu.

The blue horse pulling the carriage was startled, suddenly raising its mane and galloping with great speed

This is something that has never happened before, and Lan Xishu furrowed his brows tightly

Lan Xi looked coldly at the slowly approaching team, his expression calm while his mind was racing, calculating the speed at which Jing Mao'an was encircling from behind Dongshan, the tension between the fast and slow movements creating a deadly confrontation.

Lan Xi Shu slapped his forehead, his face radiating with joy, feeling exceptionally pleased. The situation was much better than he had anticipated: "This scoundrel brought a woman on his business trip? Allowing this scoundrel to catch his breath is utterly unreasonable"

The two lieutenants, reveling in their cups, turned around and teased the tall man, who happened to become the designated target

Lan Xi and Ding Ya lowered their heads simultaneously

Lan Xishu believes that the opening went smoothly and the overall situation is already determined

That fellow is blocking the wine pouch handed over by his companion with one hand, while the embroidered spring knife in his other hand glimmers. The bright red tassel on the hilt is particularly eye-catching. A person who does not part with their knife must always have a knife in their heart.

Puff puff puff! The sound of falling in succession!
